Being Mentally ill & Cross of Rejection

I wasn’t going to write about suffering with mental illness but I need prayer from fellow Catholics now more than ever. At church I have only told 2 people about it. The first person rejected me making excuses which I won’t get into and the second I opened up to today. She’s in behavioral social work. I don’t know if at church tomorrow things between us will be ok or not. Please pray it will.

I am not suffering now from any delusions now (depression yes) but interiorly for a short time I did and it affected a few of my relationships at church. Outwardly I seemed ok but being rejected for things out of my control is hard. My greatest fear is being cast out of church for good for odd behavior and ending up homeless too due to debt.

It’s not easy when in confession I have to then face the same priests who know my struggles with mental illness.

At church I come across as friendly quirky but overly needy too for friendship at times. I am trying to control the needy selfcenteredness but its hard and lonely this life of mine.

Anyway… God willing this thread will attract others like me. Thanks again for listening and I am glad for this spiritual outlet to vent and comfort each other.

Dear Cielo 300.
I, have inappropriate quirks, that differ from worldly society. Even Christians walk at different paces to reach God. I’m so sorry for your pain. I’m glad your problem has improved.
Can you not tell your story to a group, like a Bible study. If they know, they will understand some of your quirks and if nec, point out if you’re getting stressed. We are a garden of flowers. Each different and unique. Look at yourself as beautiful. You are a Kings kids. A child of the most high God. Secrets bring only pain. If all know, many will embrace you. You can ask them to let you know if your behavior is out of balance.
How could you be homeless? Call Catholic Social services pronto. Are there homeless shelters?

Prayer…Lord God, Who has graciously chosen Saint Dymphna to be the patroness of those afflicted with mental and nervous disorders, and has caused her to be an inspiration and a symbol of charity to the thousands who invoke her intercession, grant through the prayers of this pure, youthful martyr, relief and consolation to all who suffer from these disturbances, and especially to those for whom we now pray.
(Here mention those for whom you wish to pray.)

We beg You to accept and grant the prayers of Saint Dymphna on our behalf. Grant to those we have particularly recommended patience in their sufferings and resignation to Your Divine Will. Fill them with hope and, if it is according to Your Divine Plan, bestow upon them the cure they so earnestly desire. Grant this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Part of my mental illness is paranoid thoughts and thinking the worst concerning my debts and homelessness.

Where I live there aren’t many resources for the homeless so I wish I lived somewhere else but this where God wants me to be for now. I am trying to be strong alone but its not easy.
