I guess if they can’t find real arguments against the faith that they run with just anything that they can dream up.

Are you a woman BTW Zundrah? I had assumed you to be a man but names on here are pretty uninformatve of gender.

Yeah, we hate women so much that our Popes write encyclicals like this one
Mulieris*** Dignitatem***, “On the Dignity and Vocation of Women”
My name is Jennifer, feel free to call me by any name you wish.

But what is BTW ???

Zundrah = Jennifer
Well hey listen to this.😃 If Catholics are sexist, then how come it is the protestant churches that say Mary was nothing and shouldn’t be prayed to!

How can Catholics be sexist when they love Mary so much and her beautifully obedient life?

There is a saying; “behind every successful man is a working woman.”
(OKAY, IT’S NOT ALWAYS TRUE BUT…) 😛

Behind Jesus was Mary! Hail MARY!

From my outsider’s opinion as a non believer I see rituals as strenghts, not weaknesses.
To preserve anything or to keep longevity in anything, a procedure must be followed strictly or it will change, and in time not resemble what it was orignally. I believe that can be seen in something as simple as following a recipie, if you will forgive my comparison.
How would you be able to maintain cohesion without a standard? Of course, one can say that constantly testing and trying things can help improve the product. So, my question would be since there has been quite a bit of experimentation, has there been any improvement with any of it?
Hope that gives you another way to look at it.
I also hope you don’t think I am belittling your worship with the comparison I made, because I would not do that. It was just the best illustration I could think of right now.

Hope it works out for you

I think your analogy is valid. Humans are naturally ritualistic. Evidence: birthday parties, weddings, end zone antics a football games, etc.

As to improvements, one of the stated purposes of the 2nd Vatican Council was to make the Church’s teaching more meaningful in the current culture. It was not to change the teachings, but teach them with a more current language. The Council document “The Church in the Modern World” address this point directly. Whether this resulted in “improvement” often differs depending on the eyes of the beholder.

STRAWBERRY JAM IS RIGHT,😃

Keeping rituals is a way of preventing unwanted slow change throughout the years, and it is this that has kept the catholic church accurate (and of course with the edition of lots of devotion and guidance from the holy spirit(let’s not forget that!).😛
