Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

†

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Most people have some form of obsession,. Most keep it under control,
Some really struggle with it,fail, then get back up and try again,
Your obsession happens to be gambling, it’s like an invisible magnet that relentlessly draws you towards it, to fight against this invisible magnet, try building a brick wall
In your mind,so that brick wall is between you and the obsession,.
Picture yourself laying these bricks, and when the obsession draws you, start counting how many bricks you are laying, how many you had laid, making patterns in this wall,
And just how to make a patten of a house or animal, how many bricks you would need,
Get pen & paper and mathematically work out the amount of bricks required,
By doing this, you are building a brick wall, you start stopping the obsession,
Because your pre occupying your mind with another obsession,
It should work,it worked for me,and I Figured it all by myself, it worked,
That makes very good sense, Phil. I hope the OP will try it, along with prayer of course.

In England there are branches of Gamblers Anonymous in every town. If there is an equivalent in the U.S.A, would you consider seeking their help? There’s no shame in asking for help. Hopefully you have someone in whom you have absolute trust - family member, friend, etc. Could you talk to them?

I’m praying hard for you and know that Our Blessed Lord will be with you as you struggle so bravely to fight this addiction. :hug3:

Im not in the USA,although I would love to be.

I did go a few times to GA,but one day I saw the guy who ran the group in a pub playing the machines,i dont judge him, but since then I haven’t been as it threw me a bit.

Im living the Catholic faith again lately and it’s helping, because since my Father died I stopped the church and begun gambling everyday.I do believe continuing to live the faith will help peace and stability come to me again. Thanks so much for all the prayers, it really helps to talk about it here and have support here.I do ask for prayers if anyone wishes, so that I may continue the church life and manage to find the Church Sacraments again someday and to continue my prayer life.Peace.

Saying reams of prayer , may be beneficial for many, but I find it has limited scope,
If you yourself don’t make it happen, then it just ain’t gunna happen,
Thank you for reading,

We pray, Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

We ask for power, strength, grace and love to resist tempting habits, but we pray always as we are told to pray continously, so we are always in union with God and His love and grace. So as we pray and grow as a Christian,we may turn and leave behind ways of sin, evil, bad habits and addictions.

Prayer is not just medicine, but communication with God,and in it finding new life, hope, grace, love, peace, and salvation.

Peace,good will.
