A renowned Belgian prankster posted footage Wednesday showing the leader of Belgium’s Roman Catholic Church Andre-Joseph Leonard being hit four times by custard pies.

Posted on YouTube by practical joker ‘The Glooper,’ who has already successfully targeted French President Nicolas Sarkozy and billionaire Microsoft founder Bill Gates, the clip was filmed during a speaking engagement at the Catholic University of Louvain-la-Neuve, near Brussels.

I agree. And I am disappointed that none of the news articles I’ve located mentioned anything about charges being brought against the culprits. If this thing is tolerated, it will happen again. And again.

The first link is to an Agence France Presse article. Tthe AFP is a secular news service much like the AP.

There are multiple articles by secular Spanish newspapers and at least one Italian news outlet. I don’t think the US press will pick up the story because it is foreign news which didn’t affect an American or American economic/political/military interests. And relatively few Americans know who the archbishop is.

No, you’d likely be charged with a hate crime, and many journalists would cheer your arrest.

This story is truly disgusting. I pray for the clergy often, and I will pray for the so-called “Glooper” as well. He obviously needs some help humbling himself like a child instead of running amok like a spoiled brat.
