Believe in God and You are going to heaven.

This is really something I dont understand. I hear this everyday. You can sin all you want because as long as you believe in Jesus you are going to heaven. What ever happened to obey the word of God. What ever happend to confess and repent and you are forgiven, See I missed the part where Jesus said as long as you believe in me sin all you want, I paid for everything. Do I believe that Jesus paid for ours sins, yes i believe no matter what we do in this world if we are sorry, change our ways and repent we are forgiven yes. But do I believe that no matter what we do as long as we believe in God we are going to heaven NO I dont. What am I missing?
 
You are probably mis-understanding the phrase or concept in the same way that may Protestants feel about Catholicism’s idea that you can do what every you want during the week as long as you go to confession on Sunday before church and become absolved of ones sins…or as long as one goes to confession it doesn’t matter what one does…same mind set…different religious bent.

Does God care about people who do not believe in Him? There are many people on earth who do not believe in God at all. Does God care less about them, than those who are continually praying, praising and repenting to God? Or does God love all mankind equally? Actually, I think if you believe in God you are already in heaven, heaven on earth, because you have the Father beside you all the time. You are no longer alone.
 
For the record:
Catholicism does not teach that you can sin all you want as long as you receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) before Mass on Sunday. True…many Catholics may think that way, but that is not what a Catholic should believe or practice.
A truly practicing Catholic should use Confession as a means to rebuild their relationship with God by going to a priest (who is hopefully more learned in the faith, able to offer spiritual advice regarding the sin, and through the power given to him by Jesus Himself, he can absolve you of your sin). [John 20:21-23] Confession does not make one exempt from striving to live a holy life. Confession is there because Jesus KNEW we were going to sin and he instituted this Sacrament as a means to guide us spiritually. So…going beyond praying for forgiveness directly to God, one can go to a man who represents Christ, God working through the priest, to be better instructed. The priest does not forgive your sins…it is God working through the priest that forgives our sins.
 
Something to remember:

Forgiveness erases the failings of the past. It does not change it to a glowing record of achievement.
 
I totally agree. We must repent, confess, and make amends while we are here on earth. Perfect example we are taught we are not to live in sin, Now how many people will tell you its okay, everyones doing it. Sure we are not to judge others, but how is it possible today to teach kids right from wrong if even the older people are saying its okay. If we say its wrong we are not to judge. All I hear is its okay God understands, and as long as we believe in God alls fine. People really dont think its wrong anymore. ITs in every family even mine. And why is saying that it is making me such a horrible person. Im not trying to condem or hurt anyone i am trying to show them its not Gods way. Oh God is very forgiving, and dont get me wrong he is, but the way they are living is turning away from God isnt it?

I agree and to be perfectly honest im sure we all do it from time to time. But in the end you just have to step up to the plate and say hey im wrong i dont want to hear it, but now its time to face it and change. But it just seems like today people have God too forgiving too nice, Its like they dont want to hear sin is wrong and you are going to pay for it. My Dad always said you pay in this world or the next… Its better to pay here its the short one. Trust me im as big a sinner as the next, and if i fail and i do at times, I do try to change my sin. And i know with prayer and confessions and God I can do it. Its just like you said People tell themselves it doesnt matter, but it really does matter. And how can you get people to understand especially the younger generation that you are going to pay. Its like there is no sin today. Its like the OT was this mean strict God and they see the NT this sweet forgiving God. And he is both, but you must keep him in your life. They dont seem to realize how important he really is. How many people believe but dont go to church. They really dont believe its a sin to miss Church. God understands how tired they are. But yet a concert, picnic, fun day out they can do.

obviously God never told us to go and sin. He is forgiven if we are sorry and did not know what we were doing.

this comes to mind. when Jesus said to the pharisees: " if you said you did not know, your sins were forgiven but because you claim you know it your sins remain."

Good one. But you know what if you say that to People today they call you judgemental. who named you God, Its going to get to the point when my kids have kids they really arent gong to know about God. And its really scarey because to many other Religions have spoken thier views and this is what people really believe. I mean lets face it why is the CC so hated. Why do they hate the Pope. Because he just doesnt only talk about the Good,kind forgiving God he speaks about OBEY, TURN AWAY FROM SIN. Anotherwards no fun. I mean who wants to go to church and hear that you must change your ways stay married. They want to hear that you can do whatever you want and God still loves you and will forgive you. Thats why they really broke away from the church in the first place. They didnt want anyone telling them what to do.

Ok, but don’t lay this sin at the feet of the Church. Catholicism teaches no such thing (the opposite, in fact). I do realize that the behavior of sinful Catholics does reflect badly upon Christ, but let us understand that this behavior is contrary to Apostolic Teaching.

I agree that we are not to condemn the souls of others. That is God’s job. However, we are most certainly to judge behavior, ours and that of others.

John 7:24
24 Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment."

Judging with “right judgement” (accurate discernment) is one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

It is written: it will be a time in which man becomes their own god. people will grow cold in their faith.

this is the time. whatch for the signs.
no one wants to be told what to do. that is true. everyone has rights. i no longer hear the word sin. the word obedience is off the chart. it is like a bad word today.

the word judgement has been misenterpreted and fear has taken over people.

everybody is right in some way. these are the ways of the world.

men have forgotten the ways of the Lord. they just like to talk about Him, but the ways of the Lord is some of sort of something of the past.

Just watch and observe what is really going on in the world today.
you will realize this is all happening now.
