Not getting banned for making common problems people have with the Church as a whole. I look for the facts. Facts like we share a common ancestor with apes. The flood never happened. The garden of Eden never happened. There has to be physical proof of something and not just someone’s word.

Why don’t you offer a brief summary here of what the Church teaches on these subjects.

I’m pretty sure that what you’re going to offer won’t be a correct expository on Church teaching.

But I will be happy to retract the above if proven wrong.

I do believe that the church has accepted evolution, despite still having the concept of original sin which could not have happened due to our species not coming from the Garden of Eden. Also if, not 100% sure, the church doesn’t take the Garden of Eden or the flood as having happened it makes the original sin thing void.

If I remember Pope Francis said something along the lines that the Church is fine with evolution but it still all starts with Adam.

The Garden of Eden never happened. It is the ancient Jewish people idea of how they came about and why things in the world happened. Like why women have painful childbirths. Because it literally didn’t happen there isn’t “Original Sin”. Our DNA is traced back to Africa not the Middle East.

I don’t remember because it was a year or so ago. But no my faith was challenged when I started to question things. Mostly why there are edicts that are followed that go against progressive movements. After listening to podcasts, research, and talking to others I’ve changed.

Wrong! Read Genesis 2. There is a location given there. I know the bible is not literal. I am happy you know that. So then why carry a concept like original sin when the event that caused it never happened.

Well, questioning can be good because it can lead you to knowledge, but you have to be sure of where the Church stands on the issues and you have to be sure the sources of “new” knowledge you use are totally reliable. Good luck to you. Really, I don’t mean that in a sort of nasty way that it can be said.

Science is sometimes wrong. When my parents went to high school, they learned that scientifically, the atom was the smallest particle in the universe. Then, along comes the Hadron Super Collider in Geneva, Switzerland and split the atom and out tumbled all these sub-atomic particles, and the scientists there now believe there are smaller particles than even those.

Yep, you can rely on ANYTHING science says.

Not only that, science is not the sole criterion for truth.

And truth is not solely proven by testing and observation.

Since God is SUPERnatural, as opposed to natural, there is no way that He can be proven ‘scientifically’. Does that mean that there is thus no way to ‘prove’ His existence? Or, to turn it around slightly, does the fact that God cannot be ‘scientifically’ proven under the standard of ‘test and observe’ mean that His existence is by definition false?
