Prayer to the Shoulder Wound of Jesus

It is related in the annals of Clairvaux that St. Bernard asked Our Lord which was His greatest unrecorded suffering and Our Lord answered: “I had on My Shoulder, while I bore My Cross on the Way of Sorrows, a grievous Wound, which was more painful than the others and which is not recorded by men. Honor this Wound with thy devotion and I will grant thee whatsoever thou dost ask through Its virtue and merit. And in regard to all those who shall venerate this Wound, I will remit to them all their venial sins and will no longer remember their mortal sins.”

The Prayer

O Loving Jesus, meek Lamb of God, I a miserable sinner, salute and worship the most Sacred Wound of Thy Shoulder on which Thou didst bear Thy heavy Cross, which so tore Thy Flesh and laid bare Thy Bones as to inflict on Thee an anguish greater than any other Wound of Thy Most Blessed Body. I adore Thee, O Jesus most sorrowful; I praise and glorify Thee and give Thee thanks for this most sacred and painful Wound, beseeching Thee by that exceeding pain and by the crushing burden of Thy heavy Cross to be merciful to me, a sinner, to forgive me all my mortal and venial sins, and to lead me on towards Heaven along the Way of Thy Cross. Amen.

Imprimatur: Thomas D. Beven, Bishop of Springfield, Ma.

Pope Eugenius III, at the earnest request of St. Bernard, has granted three thousand years Indulgence to all who with a contrite heart, recite the Lord’s Prayer and Hail Mary 3 times, in honor of the Wound on the Shoulder of Our Blessed Redeemer.

CHAPTER LIX

A Detached Account of the Descent into Hell
Code:
WHEN Jesus, after uttering a loud cry, expired, I saw his heavenly soul under the form of a bright meteor pierce the earth at the foot of the Cross, accompanied by the angel Gabriel and many other angels. His Divine nature continued united to his soul as well as to his body, which still remained hanging upon the Cross, but I cannot explain how this was, although I saw it plainly in my own mind. The place into which the soul of Jesus entered was divided into three parts, which appeared to me like three worlds; and I felt that they were round, and that each division was separated from the other by a hemisphere.

I beheld a bright and beautiful space opposite to Limbo; it was enamelled with flowers, delicious breezes wafted through it; and many souls were placed there before being admitted into Heaven after their deliverance from Purgatory. Limbo, the place where the souls were waiting for the Redemption, was divided into different compartments, and encompassed by a thick foggy atmosphere. Our Lord appeared radiant with light and surrounded by angels, who conducted him triumphantly between two of these compartments; the one on the left containing the patriarchs who lived before the time of Abraham, and that on the right those who lived between the days of Abraham and St. John Baptist. These souls did not at first recognise Jesus, but were filled nevertheless with sensations of joy and hope. There was not a spot in those narrow confines which did not, as it were, dilate with feelings of happiness. The passage of Jesus might be compared to the wafting of a breath of air, to a sudden flash of light, or to a shower of vivifying dew, but it was swift as a whirlwind. After passing through the two compartments, he reached a dark spot in which Adam and Eve were standing; he spoke to them, they prostrated and adored him in a perfect ecstasy of joy, and they immediately joined the band of angels, and accompanied our Lord to the compartment on the left, which contained the patriarchs who lived before Abraham. This compartment was a species of Purgatory, and a few evil spirits were wandering about among the souls and endeavouring to fill them with anxiety and alarm. The entrance through a species of door was closed, but the angels rapped, and I thought I heard them say, ‘Open these doors.’ When Jesus entered in triumph the demons dispersed, crying out at the same time, ‘What is there between thee and us? What art thou come to do here? Wilt thou crucify us likewise?’ The angels hunted them away, having first chained them. The poor souls confined in this place had only a slight presentiment and vague idea of the presence of Jesus; but the moment he told them that it was he himself, they burst out into acclamations of joy, and welcomed him with hymns of rapture and delight. The soul of our Lord then wended its way to the right, towards that part which really constituted Limbo; and there he met the soul of the good thief which angels were carrying to Abraham’s bosom, as also that of the bad thief being dragged by demons into Hell. Our Lord addressed a few words to both, and then entered Abraham’s bosom, accompanied by numerous angels and holy souls, and also by those demons who had been chained and expelled from the compartment.[jesus-passion.com/THE_PASSION6.htm#CHAPTER%20LIX](http://www.jesus-passion.com/THE_PASSION6.htm#CHAPTER%20LIX)

St Catherine of Siena on the four principal torments of the damned

THE DIALOGUE OF ST CATHERINE OF SIENA

Dictated by her, while is a state of ecstasy, to her secretaries, and completed in the year of Our Lord 1370.

A TREATISE OF DISCRETION

Of the four principal torments of the damned, from which follow all the others; and particularly of the foulness of the Devil.

"My daughter, the tongue is not sufficient to narrate the pain of these poor souls. As there are three principal vices, namely: self-love, whence proceeds the second, that is love of reputation, whence proceeds the third, that is pride, with injustice and cruelty, and with other filthiness and iniquitous sins, that follow upon these.

"So I say to you, that in Hell, the souls have four principal torments, out of which proceed all the other torments. The first is, that they see themselves deprived of the vision of Me, which is such pain to them, that, were it possible, they would rather choose the fire, and the tortures and torments, and to see Me, than to be without the torments and not to see Me.

"This first pain revives in them, then, the second, the worm of Conscience, which gnaws unceasingly, seeing that the soul is deprived of Me, and of the conversation of the angels, through her sin, made worthy of the conversation and sight of the devils, which vision of the Devil is the third pain and redoubles to them their every toil.

"As the saints exult in the sight of Me, refreshing themselves with joyousness in the fruit of their toils borne for Me with such abundance of love, and displeasure of themselves, so does the sight of the Devil revive these wretched ones to torments, because in seeing him they know themselves more, that is to say, they know that, by their own sin, they have made themselves worthy of him. And so the worm of Conscience gnaws more and more, and the fire of this Conscience never ceases to burn. And the sight is more painful to them, because they see him in his own form, which is so horrible that the heart of man could not imagine it.

"And if you remember well, you know that I showed him to you in his own form for a little space of time, hardly a moment, and you chose (after you had returned to yourself) rather to walk on a road of fire, even until the Day of Judgment, than to see him again. With all this that you have seen, even you do not know well how horrible he is, because, by Divine justice, he appears more horrible to the soul that is deprived of Me, and more or less according to the gravity of her sin.

"The fourth torment that they have is the fire. This fire burns and does not consume, for the being of the soul cannot be consumed, because it is not a material thing that fire can consume. But I, by Divine justice, have permitted the fire to burn them with torments, so that it torments them, without consuming them, with the greatest pains in diverse ways according to the diversity of their sins, to some more, and to some less, according to the gravity of their fault.

"Out of these four torments issue all others, such as cold and heat and gnashing of the teeth and many others. Now because they did not amend themselves after the first reproof that they had of injustice and false judgment, neither in the second, which was that, in death, they would not hope in Me, nor grieve for the offense done to Me, but only for their own pain, have they thus so miserably received Eternal Punishment. christtotheworld.blogspot.com/2011/03/st-catherine-of-siena-on-four-principal.html

same-o, same-o, just like the Mormons the bahai tell us that the Truths Jesus revealed to the apostles were distorted and confused. these truths became unknown over the passage of the centuries. that is what the bahai teach.

they tell us that religious truth is relative. by this they mean that no single religion possesses the Truth. all religions possess some truth, but since no one religion possesses the TRUTH mankind is left without the truth because there is NO ONE to define the TRUTH.

if all religious truth is relative, why in the world would following Bahaullah or the Bab or mohammed or joseph smith or Jesus Christ make any difference. according to the bahai, none of them possess the fullness of the truth. all truth is relative and evolvling.

It is almost amusing when the bahai proclaim they love the RCC out of one side of their mouths and then out of the other side of their mouths the bahai proclaim that the teachings of the RCC are in error because Jesus could not ensure that the Truth He gave to His apostles would remain full and complete until the end of this world.

saying all religious truth is relative is essentially the same as saying there are no religious truths.

and, indeed, the bahai come across as saying there is no true religion and the only thing God wants you to believe is that all men should be one.

of course, Jesus taught this to His apostles. that is where Bahaullah found it.

unlike Bahaullah, Jesus created ways for all men to become one. He gave them the Gospel and the seven sacraments as well as apostolic succession. these are all tools, mechanisms, graces, designed and provided by Christ to create His ONE MYSTICAL BODY, the RCC.
This is basically saying you would be better off not getting a flat screen TV, an iPhone, a petrol driven car, a gas stove, and a refrigerator because what’s the point, they are going to be superseded by something greater in the future anyway…

St. Catherine Of Siena On Traditional Catholic Heaven
“Just souls who end in loving charity and are bound by love can no longer grow in virtue once time has passed. But they can forever love with that same affection with which they came to me, and by that measure will it be measured out to them. They desire me forever, and forever they possess me, so their desire is not in vain. They are hungry and satisfied, satisfied yet hungry-but they are far from bored with satiety or pained in their hunger.

Forever they rejoice in love at the sight of me, sharing in that goodness which I have in myself and which I measure out to them according to the measure of love with which they have come to me. They are established in love for me and for their neighbors. And they are all united in general and special love, both of which come from one and the same charity. They rejoice and exult, sharing each other’s goodness with love and affection, besides that universal good which they all possess together. They rejoice and exalt with the angels, and they find their places among the saints according to the different virtues in which they excelled in the world.

And although they are all joined in the bond of charity, they know a special kind of sharing with those whom they loved most closely with a special love in the world, a love through which they grew in grace and virtue. They helped each other proclaim the glory and praise of my name in themselves and in their neighbors. So now in everlasting life they have not lost that love; no, they still love and share with each other even more closely and fully, adding their love to the good of all.

For I would not have you think this special good they have is only for themselves. No, it is shared by all of their just companions, my beloved children, and by all of the angels. For when a soul reaches eternal life, all share in her good and she in theirs. Not that anyone’s vessel can get any larger or have need of filling. They are full and can grow no larger. But they experience a new freshness in their exaltation- a mirthfulness, a jubilation, a gladness- in knowing this soul. They see that by mercy they have been lifted up from the earth in the fullness of grace, and so they are exultant in me over the good that soul has received from my goodness.

And that soul finds joy in me and in all these souls and blessed spirits, seeing and tasting in them the sweetness of my love. Their desires are a continual cry to me for the salvation of others, for they finished their lives loving their neighbors, and they did not leave that love behind but brought it with them when they passed through that gate which is my only-begotten Son. So you see that whatever bond of love they finish their lives, that bond is theirs forever and lasts eternally.

They are so conformed to my will that they can will only what I will. When time came to an end for them and they died in grace, their freedom was so bound with the chains of charity that they are no longer capable of sin. Their will is so one with mine that even if a father and mother saw their child in hell, or a child its parent, it would not trouble them: They would even be content to see them punished, since they are my enemies. Nothing puts them at variance with me. All of their desires are fulfilled…

The goodness of these souls is beyond what your mind’s eye can see or your ear hear or your tongue describe or your heart imagine. What joy they have in seeing me who am all good! What joy they will yet have when their bodies are glorified! But while they do not have this latter good until the general judgment, they do not suffer. They lack no happiness, for the soul is filled, and in this good fullness the body will share…. These souls wait for divine judgment with gladness, not fear. And the face of my Son will appear to them neither terrifying nor hateful, because they have finished their lives in charity, delighting in me, and filled with good will toward their neighbors. The different appearances of his face when he comes in my majesty for judgment will not be in him but in those who are to be judged by him. To the damned he will appear with just hatred, but to the saved, with mercy and love.”traditionalcatholicpriest.com/2014/04/30/st-catherine-of-siena-on-traditional-catholic-heaven/

If you notice whenever Jesus Manifests himself to different saints his words are very clear
and concise. But in his Manifestation as Baha’u’llah his words vague, abstract and esoteric whats up with that ?:hmmm:

Haha very good PR. Yes I was reading James 2 only recently.

You know that you have dodged Sams point.

Yes a demon believes, but does a demon believe Jesus is Christ?

I leave you to your next “political studies” response 🙂

Can you please cite your source for Pope Urban’s “magisterial” teaching that you are referring to? (3rd request)

And also the Bible verse you proclaimed he was using to support this teaching?

(And, of course, the document which shows that Pope Urban was using this Bible verse as a source for his teaching.)

Thanks.

Remember, you made the claim.

Now you need to support it.

Are these not your words?
Pope Urban II and his Crusaders were all acting according to Biblical understanding.
Do you wish to retract? If not, please cite your source.

The actions of a Pope is not about a teaching.

Last time I checked the Papacy is about a person. The successive personages initiated by Peter, who also was a person.

Peter was given the authority that “whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

Is Pope Urban not therefore effectively Peter? Is Pope Urban not the “rock” around which the entirety of the Church is built on?
“In imparting to his apostles his own power to forgive sins, the Lord also gives them the authority to reconcile sinners with the Church. This ecclesial dimension of their task is expressed most notably in Christ’s solemn words to Simon Peter: “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” The office of binding and loosing which was given to Peter was also assigned to the college of the apostles united to its head.” (CCC 1444)
You are therefore telling me that Pope Urban had the authority to forgive my sins?

I never said I would cite magisterial teaching. I am simply saying that we cannot judge by the teachings either. The WBC teaches what it believes to be right under God. Does its leaders give forth fruits that provide progressive outcomes?

We can only judge by the fruits. Words are just words. We must look at the deeds.

Hi Techno, there is so much to Baha’u’llah’s Revelation that you may not have studied. It caters to all needs, mystical, esoteric, direct and simple, historical etc etc.

It may be that you have read mostly the more poetic stuff, and even that is very clear were you to be familiar with some of the theological terminologies that are seen in His Revelation. As with all Scripture, it is initially a wise decision to study it with some accompaniment by a more experienced Baha’i.

Do you, for example, find the following passage vague, abstract and esoteric?
***My first counsel is this: Possess a pure, kindly and radiant heart, that thine may be a sovereignty ancient, imperishable and everlasting. ***
…or this?

“The best beloved of all things in My sight is Justice; turn not away therefrom if thou desirest Me, and neglect it not that I may confide in thee. By its aid thou shalt see with thine own eyes and not through the eyes of others, and shalt know of thine own knowledge and not through the knowledge of thy neighbor. Ponder this in thy heart; how it behooveth thee to be. Verily justice is My gift to thee and the sign of My loving-kindness. Set it then before thine eyes”***

Might I also remind you dear Techno, of this very simple communication which was experienced by our mutual brother in God, ChristIsTheWay:
Anyways, to answer your question I must describe a very personal experience of mine. Last year, I had a series of dreams. A long bearded man kept calling to me while surrounded by the most beautiful light I have ever seen. He told me to follow Him now, for He was the return of Jesus Christ. Each time I woke up, I had no idea what this dream meant. My priest didn’t, either. Finally, after about a week of these dreams I woke up with a word on my lips, “Baha’i.” I had never heard of the Baha’i before but I immediately searched the web. I wasn’t too sure of the spelling but God guided me to the Wikipedia page on the Baha’i Faith. I read through it and seemed like a most wonderful discovery but I was still unsure. Then I clicked on the link for the article on Baha’u’llah. In that page, I saw a photograph of Baha’u’llah. He looked exactly like the man in my dreams. I started crying because I had discovered something so beautiful, so meaningful and it was a Person. I found my way to the USA Baha’i website and made my declaration. As for specifics that I see as advantages, I come to see the merit of the Baha’i explanation of the Trinity, the Baha’i idea of successive messengers of God, the unity of the human race, the unity of religion, the unity of God, and so much more to be advantages. I mean this with absolute respect for my former faith tradition, Catholicism. Anyways, I know this probably confused you more than it explained anything but that’s my story. God bless.
🙂

There you go.

You have just refuted your own argument.

I thank you kindly for making the point so I don’t need to go any further. 👍

QED.
LOL

I love you for your creative mind. You sure you are not a politician? 😛

The point YOU have therefore made is that the PATHWAY to God is not through the Church at all. If a Pope can’t do it, then there is either a flaw in the Church in placing a mortal sinner in Peter’s Chair, and most importantly not condemning the sin when it was being committed, or that grace is just as hit and miss in the Church as it is in the WBC…

🤷
