I really would love for our parish to have the bells rang during the consecration. I know that this isn’t an absolute necessary practice, but it is so solemn and really adds to the moment. How should I bring this up with the priest? If he approved it, would permission from the bishop be required?

I think it comes down to individual priest preference. I do know one time a visiting priest was asked if he wanted bells. He said he preferred not to have them, and thanked the person for asking because he doesn’t usually use bells, so had they just loudly rung the bells during the Consecration without informing him it would have likely given him a small heart attack! haha

Are you talking about the Sanctus bells or the bells in the bell tower?
