Bells in Eastern Catholicism?

Does anyone here know of good suppliers for bells used before, during and after the Divine Liturgy? I just saw a reference to www.russianbells.com Does anyone know if they are a good supplier, or of other suppliers? How about used bells for sale?

Also can anyone here give some examples of good a good “sequence” of set of bells based on their tone and octive? I would really appreciate any (name removed by moderator)ut. Thanks.

I’m only familiar with bells as they’re used in the Russian tradition. Blagovest Russian Church Bells is the place I’m aware of. There is a lot on information on their website. including some audio files.

See also The Story of St. Nicholas’ Bells . There used to be a sample of their bells ringing on their website but I don’t see it now. Many Russian Orthodox CD of music for liturgy and for services have bells on them. I know the St. Nicholas parish CD has two selections of bells #1 Blagovest and Optina Trezvon, and #12 Georgievsky Trezvon:

I know Fr. Stephan, pastor of of St Nicholas, whom you see in the photo blessing “Gabriel!” is very knowledgeable about bells.

How about used bells for sale?

I wish I had a larger version of this wonderful painting but maybe you can still make it out-- of Father Michael Oleska ringing his bell-- a recycled plane propeller-- with a big hammer. painted by Rie Munoz. I wish I could remember who I was talking with about this a couple years ago. They had made a set of bells with old pipes.

My parish has a really tragic set of two make shift bells, but we do ring them nonetheless right before the start of DL and during the Creed.

The historic bells of Holy Trinity Cathedral in San Francisco, a gift of Tsar Alexander III, were stolen, and then returned in 1999. Theft has become a serious concern, unfortunately.
