Belonging to more than one church?

So I don’t understand is this scripture suppose to support the catholics church claim to peter as the founder of catholicism or refute it? You don’t make that very clear.
Tsuzuki said, she did not see something.

I just thought maybe there would be a reason why she did not.

I agree with the passage of scripture you posted, but I am having trouble applying it to a crazy looking cartoon cat, which is what I was referring to when I said I didn’t see anything. Perhaps you can help me understand the connection.
The connection is not to a cat, or a cartoon.

It is a connection to Jesus Christ, or not to him.

Sorry, I did not wish to be unclear. But, apparently even if I were- these passages speak for themselves about Jesus and why some don’t or can’t hear him.

I was and am still there. But, I can get a whisper from him.
I listen for that still small voice.

Ya true and its a shame many non-christians out there still can’t hear him.

So, in other words, you were going off on a tangent. (unless you thought that was a picture of Jesus)
Not really. That link, is irrelevant really.

Can you tell me as a Catholic where it is allowable for you to hold the views you do?

I am just learning so, I can’t trust personal opinion.

I have my logic, and bible, and skepticism at hand.

Just give me some sources of information and I will feel sooo much better about what you have embarked on.

Thank you!

Monica:)

why everyone has to belong to one church that they go to every sunday. That just seems so boring to me, I enjoy visitng many churches…

Can’t I belong to more then one church?

Like for example I went to my friends Baptist church and did an alter call at his church. I did this not because I agree with all the baptist teachings, but because I wanted to show God my committment, and that I agree they may have a point that it doesn’t hurt to do this act of Faith to tell God your surrendering to him. I also did this because its harder for me now to back down from a goal to start following a more christian path in life.

The baptist church has excellent sunday schools and bible study that I could benefit from.

I also enjoy going to several catholic churches, and I really get tired of always going to the same one. Like I will sometimes go to a Catholic church by my mothers. So when I become catholic I think I would like to apply for a dual membership in more then one catholic church, just so I don’t have to always go to the same church every sunday.
Nothing wrong with going to more than one Catholic church. No need to officially become a member of each parish, so long as you are officially admitted to the Catholic Church.

Now, what does “truth” mean to you? The Catholic Church makes a certain claim. It is a huge claim. It is to be privy to the fullness of God’s Truth. In our churches, we re-present Jesus’ sacrifice to God the Father every week, indeed, every day. If you believe this, you don’t need the Baptist church. In the Catholic church, you get to see Jesus Himself each and every week.

If you don’t believe it, don’t join. Seriously. Don’t add to the sacrilege that you describe below. Continue talking with us though.
Well I know many catholics that don’t 100% believe in the catholic church teachings.

Many catholics don’t do things according to cannon law, so what.

A lot has to do with attitude. If I’m genuinely convinced that a part of my position is wrong, then I will change that part. Believe it or not, I actually strive for as much orthodoxy as possible. I just reserve the right to come to my own conclusions.
One can and should come to their conclusions, and this is called conscience right?

But, after being told what the Catholic Church says on the matter of faith, and you have already told me some erroneous things- how can you let yourself be the guide? Can’t you trust her?

If you can not, should you evaluate why?:o

Exactly.

The Catholic Church is infallible in matters of faith, but a matter of faith is different from a matter of fact, and the Church can be wrong on matters of fact. One example of matters of fact that the Catholic Church is often wrong about are the beliefs of other religions.
Oh. I did not know this. What fact are they wrong about? Or is it such a long list, you cant start here, but need a new thread?

Yeah, I tend to do that.
If it produces fruit, then I can’t question it.

I see no reason to doubt your integrity on the matter, but find myself wondering why you are happy to admit to inflammatory statements?

In light of the new testament passages, it does not jive.

Yeah, I tend to do that.
I have to tell you my friend, that myself being one who has that ability…and mastered it…it can lead to embarrassment and a physical phenomenon know as “inserting foot in mouth”… Its best to say nothing, especially when the risk is high that the statement is in error, or we have nothing to support the statement.

On the other hand… “inflammatory statements” can be a lot of fun if used properly, and you possess and freely share documentation to support the statement. I’ve slain a “wannabee dragon” or three that way…🙂 But the key is the proof… Peace!

They can also lead to huge leaps of enlightenment. Are you familiar with Lin-chi I-hsüan?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linji
Followers of the Way [of Chán], if you want to get the kind of understanding that accords with the Dharma, never be misled by others. Whether you’re facing inward or facing outward, whatever you meet up with, just kill it! If you meet a buddha, kill the buddha. If you meet a patriarch, kill the patriarch. If you meet an arhat, kill the arhat. If you meet your parents, kill your parents. If you meet your kinfolk, kill your kinfolk. Then for the first time you will gain emancipation, will not be entangled with things, will pass freely anywhere you wish to go.[2]

Those who have fulfilled the ten stages of bodhisattva practice are no better than hired field hands; those who have attained the enlightenment of the fifty-first and fifty-second stages are prisoners shackled and bound; arhats and pratyekabuddhas are so much filth in the latrine; bodhi and nirvana are hitching posts for donkeys.[3]

Well, now you are.
Actually no… I glanced at the page…saw just how stupid and worthless it was, closed the page.

Nothing of the least bit of value, and certainly nothing of any consequence. Just one oriental who suckered others…

Sorry…a waste of time.

Tsuzuki:
Tell me what this form of buhdisim gives that the Catholic Church can not give? Or mormomism?

you cite an angry man, who is not telling anyone he was sent by God to kill people to get something better than nirvana.

What in fact, is so different about this man, that you find so fascinating?

Prayers? Catholics can and do prayers all the time, not just at set times either. Nor are protestants limited to prayers.

What else? Fasting? Catholics do this as you already know.
Some non cahtholics do, but they leave it up to the person.

🤷

Almsgiving? Did this guy even preach almsgiving?

Muslims, Jews, Christians and even atheists do almsgivings.

(some atheists:o )

So, if he did - great! I saw no such mention in that link.

I am asking you point blank- what does this man offer that can not be found in the Catholic Church?

Be specific please!

Thank you!🙂
