Washington, DC – Facing an enormous backlash for becoming the 60th vote for a health care bill that his language allows to fund abortions, Ben Nelson is striking back. In comments both on and off the Senate floor yesterday and today, Nelson lashed out at pro-life advocates and is defending his much-maligned compromise.

I don’t know much about Ben Nelson, but I’m sure if the voters of Nebraska are unhappy with his voting record, they’ll vote him out of office when his term expires.

Pro abortion people say that abortion should be between a Dr. and a patient, but if I’m paying for an abortion than why shouldn’t I have any (name removed by moderator)ut in to if it happens. As so very often in these matters the position s crystal clear…if one is pro life one does not vote for or support any provision direct or indirect for abortion. The debate needs to recognise that simple reality.

I too am unhappy with the “compromise” and hope the legislation fails in reconciliation, but before everybody dumps on Nelson - he at least made some attempt to fix it. Casey also to a lesser extent. What about all the other senate Catholics?

There are times when compromise is required, but when it comes to abortion, when it comes to saving the lives of innocent babies, no honest man or woman can ever “compromise!”

As a Nebraska citizen. I’ve been happy with Ben Nelson for the most part. He has a decent record of doing what is right for Nebraska. On many of occassions he has ignored the politics as usual mentality and simply did what we voted him in for. To represent us. He’s done many things in the way of protecting the life of the unborn.

This is totally out of character for him. The fact that he is opposed to the majority of Nebraskans on this issue is very disturbing. This says to me that he is getting some sort of pay off. Or he is simply letting his democrat colors shine through, because he doesn’t plan on running for re-election. At this point he would go from a well favored candidate to not being re-elected because of this issue.

He should stop caring about these sweetheart deals and start caring about Nebraskans like he has in the past. Listen up Ben, we don’t care about what benefits you’ve secured for Nebraska in this legislation. We care about stopping government waste.

When election time comes, Nebraskans dont’ forget.

How do you know they are communists? Have you seen their cards or registration forms. Or are you just assuming that because their politics don’t “jive” with your political thoughts, that automatically makes them communists?

We’ve ALL compromised when it comes to abortion. Some examples:

We buy things made in China, supporting their forced one-child policy. even if you avoid buying things made in China, you buy services from people who buy products made in China.

Your taxes go to pay civil servants who use the money to pay for abortions.

You shop at stores whose owners use their income for abortion.

Senator Nelson’s fight went a long way to distance tax money from abortion. We shouldn’t demonize the poor guy… his compromise is neither black nor white, its another shade of gray, like every financial action every one of us does.
