Benedict XVI Becomes Oldest Pope in History

He would have been the oldest Pope if he stayed in that role, although who knows, the stress of the job may likely have taken some years off. So more accurately, he’s lived longer than anyone who served as Pope.

For example, Ronald Reagan is the oldest US President, whereas Jimmy Carter is the “longest-lived” US President.

Benedict is not the Pope. He retired. Pope Francis is the Pope.
 
Benedict is Pope Emeritus Benedict. But let’s not argue semantics, yes, Francis is pope. And no one is saying he isn’t.
 
It must be very powerful, and quite beyond words that we have two living popes( Emeritus and present Pope) praying for us.
Can you imagine how “ directly” those prayers may go?
There is no one between a Pope and Heaven. It like having Holy Father and Holy Grandfather :hugs:praying for us right now. Using kind of a direct line…one may say…
