Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI is suffering from Parkinson’s Disease, according to Veja, a Brazilian news magazine. The first symptoms were detected shortly before he announced his resignation in 2013 and may have prompted his decision, according to the Veja report.

(Note: the Veja website is in Portuguese only.)

Thanks for sharing this. If this news is coming out now, did it get worse recently?

Just like JP2.

There were questions about Benedict’s health earlier this year. Maybe this is the reason why.

🙁

I hope it isn’t true. I’ll say a prayer for Pope Benedict, and wait for confirmation from an official source.

@elf01, Technically you were correct to move this to News, but I moved it back to Apologetics because the News threads don’t show up on the “Latest” list. It would be better if they did, in my view. If others think News is the right place for it, I’ll shift it back again.

A terrible disease. My mom, who died July 22nd had Parkinsons, and congestive heart failure. I sure hate hearing Benedict has this.

Ugh. Parkinson’s is not good.

:pray:t2::pray:t2::pray:t2: For the poor man.

How trustworthy is this source? I’ll wait and see if anything else is confirmed or denied from Benedict’s end. Prayers for Benedict.
