The Benedictine Monks at St. Bernard`s Abbey in Cullman, Alabama are a fervent & growing monastic group. They run a private school, the Ave Maria Grotto, a Summer Camp, & have a Retreat House. They accept men both young & old & are a solid group in the Diocese of Birmingham, AL…
 
You might want to check this out. Absolutely beautiful! Our parish priest was the Abbot there for some years and one of my RCIA leaders is also a monk at this Abbey.

There is also a community of Benedictines who refouned the monestary in Nursia, Italy (St. Benedict’s birthplace)

Surprisingly, they are mostly Americans.

It is not full solitude, as the monks care for the Basillica there, and run a gift shop near the Basillica. They will also host retreats for pilgrims who come to visit St. Benedict’s birthplace.
