I’m not really sure where to put this, but since it really doesn’t merit a new thread I thought I would share it in this discussion.

It is a five page photo essay on Clear Creek Abbey in Oklahoma and was published three months ago. It recently won a national award.

You might want to check this out. Absolutely beautiful! Our parish priest was the Abbot there for some years and one of my RCIA leaders is also a monk at this Abbey.

There is also a community of Benedictines who refouned the monestary in Nursia, Italy (St. Benedict’s birthplace)

Surprisingly, they are mostly Americans.

It is not full solitude, as the monks care for the Basillica there, and run a gift shop near the Basillica. They will also host retreats for pilgrims who come to visit St. Benedict’s birthplace.
