From what i know, a community sends men to be ordained (along with being educated) as they see fit. If the community needs more fathers, then it gets more of its members ordained. However, to be a monk doesn’t necessarily mean one needs to be a priest, and i know most monasteries just call each other brothers. All monks who are priests now, were once brothers (except those who transfered into the order already ordained). No doubt that if you really felt a calling to celebrate the mass, your ordinary would support that.
