Benediction after Mass

After Mass each Friday the TLM Community that I attend has Benediction of the Blesed Sacrament. We have a pamphlet with prayers and a couple of hymns. I really enjoy adoring our Lord, but it would be nice to have some time for silent prayer. We go through the prayers in the pamphlet and then Father gives the Benediction without much of a silent period. Is that the usual practice? I appreciate the fact that we are blessed to have a TLM Community with Adoration and Benediction weekly so I don’t mean to complain. I’m just curious what other Communities do. God Bless.

At our parish, we just say the Leonine prayers if it is a low Mass, and then there’s about 10 minutes of silent prayer available before set up for the next Mass begins. We have the best coffee and donut hour after Mass, though!

Every Friday we have Low Mass, followed by Benediction and Holy Hour, during which time confessions are heard. It is a great staple of my spiritual life.

We have the holy hour. An adoration of the blessed sacrament before weekday masses. It lasts a whole hour.

We have Bendiction after Mass, but its only on each First Friday. In buffalo. N.Y.

Benediction and adoration aren’t quite the same. At the abbey I’m associated with, Benediction (beautifully chanted in Latin BTW), is every first Friday of the month immediately after Vespers. There are hymns & antiphons before and after benediction there is no time for silent adoration.

Adoration is every Sunday after Vespers, and at adoration, there is half an hour for silent adoration. The lights are turned off in the conventual chapel other than the light on the altar where the monstrance is. It’s quite moving especially to see the devotion of the monks.
