I was wondering if anyone has ever witnessed a short Benediction immediately following a Wedding Mass? I am getting married in September and asked the Priest if we could do a Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament after the wedding. I thought this would be nice to give thanks to Jesus immediately following the Wedding, also because we are in the year of the Eucharist. I will also serve as a great witness to the people in attendance.

He told me that it wasn’t appropriate… 😦

What does everyone here think about this?

What is a benediction of the Blessed Sacrament? Do you mean when the priest elevates the Eucharist in benediction of worshippers gathered in adoration, for example? I have never seen this take place during or after a Mass; receiving Communion would clearly surpass such a blessing, as significant as it could be.

Aren’t you having a nuptial mass? What could this benediction possibly add to the Mass itself?

I’ve been at a wedding where they had adoration preceding the nuptial Mass and they offered Confession to wedding guests as well. Not sure about afterwards though…

Adoration? With an exposed monstrance? How did they go about the adoration? Thanks for the info.
