On an HBO Documentary, Benny Hinn freely admits that “He cannot heal the truly sick, such as people with cancer, Aids, heart disease”. Hinn adds, " I use Hypnosis Techniques to people feel better at my crusades."Despite the admission from Hinn, Tens of Thousands of Christians rush to Benn Hinn Crusades and pray for the healing of serious diseases such as Cancer, Aids and Heart Disease. When you tell Hinn’s Followers about the HBO Documentary, many say, “That was a trick of the Devil. HBO took Hinn’s word out of context.”

IMHO, Benny Hinn and those like him are charlatans who prey on the faith of the gullible. Better to pray to Jesus through His Blessed Mother or to the saints.

I’m less concerned about the attacks of atheists and like than I am by these sorts of snake oil peddlers. Because they identify themselves as Christian, I think they can do the church much more harm than more obvious enemies.

Paul

Either this is out of context or he’s really changing his message/image, because I know several big Hinn believers who are sure he is a miraculous healer. If he really said that and it isn’t out of context, then he needs to make sure he is accurately billed. There is nothing wrong with being an excellent comforter. If the sick understand that they might still need to see a doctor later, OK, fine. OTOH, if it is out of context, he needs to say clearly on his own show who really said what. It’s an issue that he must seek to resolve immediately.

I believe there are people that the Holy Spirit specifically sets up to use in healing ministry. All healing comes from the Holy Spirit, the saint in action is only the enabler, the person with faith who steps out and tells someone that God heals and says the prayer for the Holy Spirit to heal that person.

I personally do not know much nor have had encounters with Benny Hinn ministries. I hope that he is working the mission of Jesus Christ and not fraudulent. I always hope and pray that there will not be controversies and liars within any church denomination. I try to be as loving and understanding of another person’s ministry as I possible can be.

From his web site:

Benny Hinn: Over 30 Years as Statesman, Author, Broadcaster, Bridge Builder, and Evangelist
In worldwide ministry more than 30 years, Pastor Benny Hinn has preached the Gospel face to face and through television to more than a billion people. Through Holy Spirit Miracle Crusades, Training for Ministry Conferences, TV broadcasts, the Internet, printed page, and audio-video recordings, this evangelist’s straightforward and uncompromising message of God’s love has inspired hundreds of millions to a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

Pastor Benny’s ministry is also engaged in crisis relief, children’s homes, and feeding programs, as well as hospital and emergency care. During the past year alone, not only did his ministry help provide food, clothing, shelter, education, and religious training for 46,368 children around the globe (including partnerships with 31 different missionary and relief agencies), but it also continues to underwrite the free care expenses of such powerful outreaches as a hospital in Calcutta, India, where over 200,000 patients are treated annually, and My Father’s House children’s homes in Mexico and the Philippines.

Winning the Lost at Any Cost
Today, Pastor Benny continues to take the message of God’s saving and healing power to the world. Tens of millions attend his Holy Spirit Miracle Crusades each year. Memorable crusades have included audiences up to 7.3 million (in three services) in India, the largest healing service in recorded history. During recent years, he has been welcomed during his travels by kings, prime ministers, and heads of state, yet his message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ continues to be fervent, motivating him to “go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15).

After more than 30 years in ministry as statesman, author, broadcaster, bridge builder, and evangelist, Pastor Benny Hinn remains committed, more than ever, to winning the lost at any cost!

At Benny Hinn’s crusades–he dazzles the crowds, plays captivating music, and manipulates the emotions of the audience; BUT, he is not of God. What is happening is not of God. Benny Hinn is a master con artist, who fully understands the human psyche. I was watching one of Benny Hinn’s crusades the other day on TV. At first impression, Benny Hinn appears as a man of God. He has that curious and distinguishing look that mesmerizes the crowds. Benny Hinn comes across as an extremely interesting character, with the power to hypnotize the masses with his charm, music, and exploitation of the Bible.

As I watched Benny Hinn perform on stage, it reminded me more of a rock star in concert. There were many thousands of people in the audience, and no doubt, millions more on TV. Just as rock-n-roll fans, the audience was in the palm of the performer, Benny Hinn. Hinn never mentioned the word “sin,” never mentioned the word “Saviour,” but just kept talking about how wonderful Jesus is. This is one of Satan’s greatest deceptions. We read in Acts16:16-18, “And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying: The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation. And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.” Just as the demon possessed woman in Acts 16:17 who spoke the truth while also serving the Devil, so does Benny Hinn speak of Jesus Christ while serving the Devil.

I dont trust any tv evangelists.

Benny Hinn was sued and lost three wrongful death law suits. (out of court settlements/ undisclosed payments). All three times, Hinn told people at his crusades they were healed of cancer or AIDS. These victims, believed the lies of Benny Hinn, stopped taking their medicine and died.

Followers of Benny Hinn claim this is all “tricks of the devil” and Hinn “payed the $$$$ to avoid controversy.”

On Dateline Interview, Benny Hinn was questioned about another donation campaign. Benny Hinn raised $25 million dollars to build an orphange in S. California.

Benny Hinn never built the Orphange and ended all plans to build it. When questioned on Dateline, Benny Hinn smiled and said, “The Lord told me not to build the orphange. God will reveal new plans.”

Benny Hinn refuses to account for the $25 Million or say where the $$$$ is. His Faithful Flock doesn’t seem to care.

Like I said, I dont trust tv evangelists, or anybody that makes a living by trying to sell us God.

I agree with this assessment.

I totally agree. I also believe that a few televangelists are nothing more than frauds.

Jeremisah, Benny Hinn is all about Benny Hinn … What part of Kansas are you from, I lived in Kansas for about 37 years,They have a good baskeball team KU
Yep.
I am in Olathe right now. I’ve lived in Omaha for the past 15 yrs or so, and will be going back soon. I like it here, but all my kids and grandkids are in Omaha, so I can’t wait to move back.

I can’t find the remote fast enough when he comes on.

Pray for discernment in believers.

A group of non-Catholic ministers followed up on his healings once, and all of them were shown to be false.

I might have missed it, but that blurb from his site does not say that he ever healed anyone…

You realize that many Atheists feel the same way about the Roman Catholic Church, as you all do about Benny Hinn?

Can you all see the blatant hypocrisy at play here?

Your highly critical of Benny Hinn miracles, yet you take no notice of the critics who doubt all of the Catholic miracles.

Benny Hinn says the good Lord speaks to him and you roll your eyes. If a devout Catholic tells you that the good Lord speaks to them, you listen attentively.

I have to say it, your all inside of a glass house and hurling stones.

I think an honest look at the issue would find a different idea about what the Catholic Church does and does not claim as a miracle.

If we set aside miracles from the Middle ages, (just for a moment, as most are now relegated to the pages of past history) and look at the “modern” miracles. Starting with Lourdes. While it is a place of pilgimage, and there are many who claim to have been healed at Lourdes, the official stand of the Church is the verification, or official pronouncement as miraculous for very few of them. The Catholic Church does accept that some diseases have spontanious remissions that cannot be explained by medical science, or by faith. I’ve seen people who have “Deep Fungal Infections” (As most of my career was doing Infectious Disease research at a one of the largest University Medical Centers in the US, I’m more tuned into these diagnosis). There where from time to time cases of Fungal, and Mycobacterial infections that with no treatment just simply healed spontaniously. It could have been that the immune system of these patients “switched on” who knows? Attendings, Fellows, Interns and Residents, we all just looked at each other and scratched our heads.

Getting back to the Catholic Faith. For hundreds of cases where people claim healing at Lourdes, very few have been authenticated by the Catholic Church. Those have been authenticated after the previous medical records have been reviewed, and a team of physicians including non-Catholic and even athiests have reviewed and certified that there was no explination that could be found to cause the cure. The cures also must be instantanious, and not claimed to have occured after a period of time.

A little different than Benny Hinn’s alleged healings.

I have to say it, your posts and your agenda smacks of “dog in the manger.” Due to some defect in your life you have somehow developed a hatred for the Church and now you come on a Catholic forum and speak ill of your former faith. I am sorry that you have lost faith in God and in His Church, but running Her down and making disparaging observations does not elevate you in the eyes of anyone but yourself. You play the role of the jilted suitor and point out all the shortcomings of the former beloved. Why not take the high road and just nurse your bitterness in silence?
