Do you think that the Church would consider the acceptance of suffering for the benefit of somebody’s soul to be a cognitive action? The church says there are three types of mercy we are called to:
Word
Action
Or
Prayer.
Offer your day for them. - your day that is a striving for holiness Actually that offering is a prayer. St Therese said that prayer is simply a Loving look towards Heaven or similar words. We don’t have to spend time on our knees or whatever to pray, it can be a quick look of Love to Heaven as we go about our day.I’m willing to suffer but strongly sense that my successful struggle to grow spiritually will somehow positively affect my friends and loved ones as well.
