I wanna learn more about the theology and philosophy of demons. I’ve read a bunch on spiritual warfare but I wanna learn more about actual demons. Like there hierarchy’s and names and powers and stuff like that.

Better not to mess with that sort of thing. It opens doors to very bad stuff. If you want to engage in spiritual warfare, keep up your prayer life, fast, attempt to control your thoughts and grow in virtue. Best not to go looking for trouble.

There is a sort of curiosity that is dangerous.

I’ve read a bunch of Paul Thigpen! He actually does faith formation at my parish!

I read Hostage To The Devil, by Malachi Martin years ago

It’s about five documented cases of demonic possession.

Scary stuff, but the author does a great job explaining the process of demonic possession and exorcism.

That being said, Lent is coming, you should focus on something else.

The only interest you should have in demons is an interest in protecting yourself and your loved ones from them and their influence. Any other types of curiosity in demons is not good imo.

Ask that question of the board administration. For now, that rule is in the TOS that we each agreed to when we signed up.

I did not want to flag your post, just thought I’d give you a friendly reminder. The rules are there for a reason.

Yes that’s a good link. Those pesky little demons aren’t to be meddled with. Even the smartest human is dumber than the dumbest demon. That’s why we have to put on the “armor of Christ”

I’d suggest that instead, you read up on angels.
Peter Kreeft has a book titled “Angels and Demons: What do We Really Know About Them?” ISBN: 0898705509
His work is theologically sound of course.

Agree with other responder, you should avoid seeking knowledge of the demonic. Rather, you should focus on the Heavenly.

Priest among many others advised you not to so … I would listen.

Demonic possession is the result of a person surrendering their free will to the demon.

It’s one of the things the fallen angels hate about humans, in that God gifted us with free will.

This is why Malachi Martin explained that demonic possession is a process and not a sudden event. As long as the person keeps their free will and only gives themselves to God, they need not worry about becoming demonically possessed.
