Please fill in the blanks:The Latin Vulgate was declared from error by the council of Trent. And was also declared the official Bible of the church, not the official readings at mass. Just because this Scott Hahn(whoever he maybe) or the Pope uses it doesn’t mean I will read it. For the record. I DIDN"T SAY THAT THE RSV-CE IS BAD. I just said that don’t trust alterior motives. With that being said. I believe its motive is leading people towards Protestantism. You won’t find me reading the RSV-CE anytime soon. I want a Catholic Bible and not some Protestant based Catholic version. That doesn’t appeal to me at all. I just think it is a little fishy that a Protestant based Bible company would want to make a Catholic version without trying to convert people to Protestantism and to make money off it. Just because the RSV-CE used many more text than St. Jerome doesn’t make it better or more accurate. I don’t know what all the texts were used in translating the RSV-CE but I am just sticking to my guns in saying I just don’t trust the RSV-CE. I would just assume stay away from anything Protestant based period. I would rather read the lackluster NAB or Jerusalem Bible. I am also saying there is nothing wrong with the text of the RSV-CE, I just prefer when someone wants a good Catholic Bible to recommend the Douay-Rheims and stay clear of Protestant based Catholic Bibles.
I don’t like the RSV-CE because in the Book of ____________ chapter ____________ verse _________ it is “leading people towards Protestantism.”
Feel free to give as many examples as you like. The more the better.
