Just wondered if anyone has any suggestions. I’m going to take my family to Orlando to Disneyworld in March and was going to be there on a Sunday. Anyone know of a good church near the resort for attending mass? Thanks!

One of the most beautiful churches I have ever seen
maryqueenoftheuniverse.org/
and built specifically for the tourist trade, so to speak, directly across from but not in the Disney resort

we were there on the feast of Assumption, beautiful Mass and well attended.

make time for the little museum and depending on the time of year, the rose garden
to be clear, you are asking about Florida?

They are going to Orlando, Fl., not Anaheim. Wrong side of the country! 🙂 And no, the Crystal Cathedral will not be ready, as the former owners are tenants for a couple of years after the sale, according to the contract.

The Basillica, Mary Queen of the Universe is your best bet, as puzzleannie said.

I will second that unless someone wants to travel down to St. Martin de Porres in Jensen Beach. It’s only a 2 hour drive but well worth it. Four Novus Ordo Masses on Sunday plus a Tridentine Mass at 12:30. Pretty awesome.

Thirded for Mary Queen of the Universe. Went to Easter Mass there 2 different years.

I have been to the shrine a few times and it is nice, but I prefer a more home like parish. Our family went to Holy Family once or twice and I really liked it. It is in Lake Butler about 20 minutes away, but what a nice community. You will need a rental car. We felt a little under dressed in our skorts and khaki pants. Most members of the parish were well dressed for Mass.

Not only close, but beautiful, Mary Queen of the Universe, is almost a tourist attraction in and of itself.

Last time we were in Orlando, we spent hours there and didn’t even go to Mass. (We tend to attend Mass on Saturday night, leave on Sunday and return on Saturday so we can attend Mass on Sunday.)

We live on the north side of Orlando and attend our local parish, but we OFTEN go down to visit the Shrine and it’s FABULOUS bookstore (don’t forget to check it out!)…
ENJOY your visit! 🙂

We go to Orlando almost every year and usually go to Mary, Queen of the Universe. Highly recommended! 👍

Last year, for whatever reason their multiple Mass times weren’t working with our schedule, so we went to a local parish church in Celebration. That was very nice as well.

we also like the parish in Kissimmee, can’t remember the name, but every year when we used to go down there we would “grandparent” a family of migrant workers in a parish-sponsored program and take them around the Disney resort, lots of fun esp. when our own grandkids are not around.

“Only a 2 hour drive”???

I second the suggestions about Mary, Queen of the Universe. Very close to Disney World, beautiful church, numerous Masses.

I think I know what church you mean; Corpus Christi? (I remember that because it’s the same name as our parish.) We haven’t gone there, but likely will try it on a future Disney trip, as it looked lovely. I imagine it would be much less crowded, and somewhat less tourist-oriented, than Mary, Queen of the Universe.

Celebration is a very pretty little town.

Sorry about the resurrection of this thread. Other then the obvious expensive choice of taxi and rental car anyone know of any easy way to get from Disney World hotels to Mary, Queen of the Universe.

My family will be going to Disney and are planning on staying in WDW without a rental car. Anyone know if there is any free or low cost transportation to the Masses on Sundays.

I loved it when they use to have Catholic Mass at the Polynesian. It made it much easier to justify to those family members that may not want to go through the extra hassle of going off property.
