If I had to choose one, I’d probably pick Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis, though the Screwtape letters would be a close second.

it tells alot of things one might not know like saint joesph the foster father of jesus was sick for 8 years before he died.

Are you thinking the kind of convent/monastery where you never visit the outside world, or is it just a base of operations for you (a place to eat and sleep)? I suspect that there would be different recommendations based on the answer.

It is so easy to misinterpret the Bible. We have so many well meaning Christain Churches that do so.
I think the **Catechism of the Catholic Church **does a pretty good in explaning our Faith at a level most people should be able to understand. It was vetted by a number of theologians and issued by the Holy See.
If one was able to study at a higher level of intellect, perhaps Summa Theologia by St Thomas Aquinas.
If neither of these, I would take a great** Bible compendium** to help understand the finer meanings of the Bible.
The Imitiation of Christ is great.
But as always, the more we understand, the more questions we would have, so I’d take along a great theologian priest to help me not misinterpret what I read. And to administer the Sacraments to me. Holy Eucharist and Reconciliation is where it’s really at.

First, I’d want to have my Liturgy of the Hours (4 volumes)

Complete Works of St. Teresa of Avila, or
Complete Works of St. John of the Cross
Anyone know of a combined book: “Complete Works of the Carmelites!”
. Maybe I could rebind mine before leaving home. You know, a little duct tape.
Since we’ve shifted to an island, I might try to smuggle one more: Lord of the Rings.
