My husband just gave me the go-ahead to buy a DVD Bible Study for us to do at home together one night a week. Yay!

My husband’s not much of a Bible Reader, but has anyways enjoyed watching Bible movies, which are mostly done with a protestant slant. He’s recently returned to the Catholic Church after more than a decade in various protestant churches, but doesn’t yet believe the Catholic Church is any different than protestant churches, besides the Eucharist. He has also said that he wants to learn Catholic Apologetics.

I’m open to suggestions. Also, my husband’s first language is Spanish, so it might be helpful if a study might have an option for Spanish audio, but not necessarily needed, but might be nice.

Thank you for suggestions to get us started!

I’d recommend something like the Bible and the Sacraments, but that’s not so much a Bible study as it is a study of the Bible. It’s produced by the St. Paul Center (Catholic) and, as far as I know, has Spanish audio.

My husband’s at home watching Sampson right now while I’m at the hospital with the kids. Lol he truly loves all Bible movies!

I’d buy a subscription to Formed.org

Then you get many many many studies!! And many things in Spanish.

I don’t have a firestick, but, call Formed. They have great folks who will help.

I just run a HDMI cable from my Chromebook to the TV.

Other people use casting apps, I am just not familiar with them 😦

Yeah I don’t speak technology lol. I’ll try to find a phone number for them. Thanks!

Ascension Press’ abbreviated Bible Timeline series comes with Spanish subtitles and has Spanish editions of the workbooks:
Thank you! This is one I was considering. Have you done it? If so, how’d you like it?

Chrome cast has a “thing” that is connected to the TV so it is possible to watch what is on the computer screen on the TV.

Not a Bible study but the Catholicism DVDs with bishop Robert Barron are good.

I haven’t done the shorter study (8 sessions, 30 minutes each). My parish is just wrapping up the larger Bible Timeline study (24 sessions, 50 minutes each), though. It’s great. Jeff Cavins has his system down for explaining the “big picture” of salvation history that is really helpful and well done. Unfortunately, the longer study doesn’t have Spanish subtitles, though. I imagine the shorter study is still great, just abbreviated. It’s very helpful for seeing the connection between the Old and New Testaments.

I recommend the works of Dr. Brant Pitre to anyone interested in learning about and from the Scriptures. He is a professor of Scripture at Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans. He offers CDs and DVDs of his courses and talks. He also provides study outlines and excerpts of his courses and talks online for free. His courses include both studies of various works of Scripture in both the Old and New Testaments and specific topics from the Scriptures. His website, which had links to his courses and outlines, is BrantPitre.com. He is a very knowledgeable and enjoyable speaker.

I’m really enjoying this one. It’s on YouTube, but it is a study of the New Testament in light of the Old. I’m hoping my wife will like it as much as I do.
