Best English translation of the Roman Catechism?

I have a TAN edition of the Roman Catechism, translated by John McHugh and Charles Callan, and published originally in 1923.

In its preface the translators refer to previous translations being lacking in accuracy and style. I am wondering whether this translation is considered the best to date, or if there have been later translations which anyone would recommend.

I have that, too. I don’t know of any other modern translation, but a new edition written in contemporary English would be a good thing.
 
The 1923 McHugh/Callan translation is widely considered to be the best translation of the Roman Catechism. The earliest before that was by Jeremiah Donovan in the 19th Century.

I myself own the Baronius Press Edition which is based on the 1923 translation (I am not sure how it differs from the TAN Edition though).
 
The best edition is the latest edition. The Catechism of the Catholic Church, Second Edition (Libreria Editrice Vaticana, copyright 1995), with the Imprimi Potest of Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger.

This is the official catechism for those in full communion with the Catholic Church.
 
Who says you cannot like and use both of them?
After all, the Roman Catechism is cited as one of the references in the CCC.
 
Every catechism is true, but as understanding develops, yes, even doctrine, is it not best to keep up with advances in understanding, or with clarification of that which went before?

Thanks @Johann_du_Toit, that’s very helpful. I do find that version to be straight-forward reading, and in a nice prose style I appreciate your response.
 
The CCC is just fine, though I don’t own it. If needed I look it up online. The catechism on my shelf which I pick up for casual reading is the Roman Catechism. I was simply asking about the Roman Catechism translations.
