Best order to read New Testament?

I posted this question under “Ask an Apologist” but I think it was supposed to go here instead.

My question is this. Is there a preferable order to reading the New Testament (ie John before Matthew) I should recommend to someone reading it for the first time?
 
I’ve never considered reading it in any other order than as it appears. John is so much more theologically deep than the synoptics. Just as Revelation best fits at the end. But, in any event, the Gospels should be read first, for all of the Epistles should be read in the light of the Gospels.
 
just how it is laid out in the Bible. Obviously I would recommend the four Gospels first
 
My recommentation is always to start with Luke -Acts. It was written with Gentiles in mind. It is also (IMHO) the most accessable and combined it reads most like a linear story. Mark is too short, and Matthew really does presume something of a Jewish background to fully appreciate.

After Luke-Acts, one could go to any other NT book in no particular order. Just don’t read the Book of Revelation first – without at least some preparation and study aids it’ll totally confuse you!

Others may think otherwise; this is just my:twocents: based on years of study and leading Scripture study groups.
