"Best" Penance You Ever Received

With all the recent confession threads I thought I’d ask this question. What was the “best” penance you ever received? I guess it could be the easiest or hardest but “best” in terms of how it helped you grow.

My regular confessor gives really good-tailored penances every time, not always easy but doable. Probably the best was several years ago he asked me to memorize the Memorare. Somehow I had never learned it. It led me to a new and much deeper love of the rosary and re-learning of all the (common) Marian prayers. This same priest always starts with, "For your penance-as always-tell Jesus you love Him and…

When the priest told me, “For penance, I want you to take your wife out to dinner, let everything else go, and enjoy each other’s company”.

I won’t tell you the sin, but will tell you this penance was appropriate.

Once a priest told me to cut my alcohol consumption in half for 3 weeks. He did this because he said he smelt beer on me (I WAS NOT DRUNK, I had like 2 1/2 beers and decided to go to confession a couple hours later but he still smelled it because it was a F2F confession in the open so we had to sit close so others could not hear)

But I also liked one where a priest told me to talk a 15 minuet walk a few times for a week. He told me that helps him and I am guessing he sensed I was stressed at the time

I think I liked those ones because they actually give me a challenge and forced me to remember my penance even after I leave the church. I wish I got more penances like those.
