Being a journalist I have always embraced tolerance and love of discordant voices. It adds to the richness of the human experience.Sounds like you are in the right business, one that you love.

You would like to be taken seriously and then use the term “sodomite” in your posts? Golly, maybe I’m wrong, but i don’t think lesbians are sodomites, and some gay men aren’t either. Of course, stereotyping an entire group or sub-group makes sense because we all understand that those who fear gay people are most likely in the closet themselves, right? Yep, stereotyping really works…The Canadian news reports health news, environmental problems and issues a year ahead of the United States news:

BBC News is all right but it is very liberal on all the social issues, bashes the Catholic Church and supports worldwide Sodomite Emancipation.
U.S. News tends to focus on the weather, celebrities, and a story about animals at the end of the broadcast.

I also like PBS’s News Hour though it’s the same on all the social issues / Catholic Church/ Sodomites as the BBC.
It gives more in-depth coverage on the political issues but its reporting on the social issues is one-sided from the liberal point of view:

Freedom of the press isn’t freedom of speech.U recognize the press was specifically by name singles out for protection by our founding fathers? The lack of a USA in media meaning government involvement is what makes us beautiful. I read news press.com. am an editor there and journalist 36 years.
Very true. The first amendment guarantees five rights:Freedom of the press isn’t freedom of speech.
Both are protected. And what’s your point? That there should be government censoring of the press/limits on speech and editorializing/only the facts mam. You know America isn’t governed like the Catholic Church.Freedom of the press isn’t freedom of speech.
See here is the thing the press is a sacred job in many ways and has great power. The problem with allowing news reports too much latitudes in coloring their reports becomes a form of censorship of its own making. Both are protected. And what’s your point? That there should be government censoring of the press/limits on speech and editorializing/only the facts mam. You know America isn’t governed like the Catholic Church.
“The basis of our governments being the opinion of the people, the very first object should be to keep that right; and were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter.” Thomas Jefferson
Yeah and every country on the planet is older then you and are doing better then you.“The press should just report the news, period full stop.”
Thank God our founding fathers didn’t think the way you did. It’s called the marketplace of ideas, voices, opinions, fact and fiction. It’s what makes us great; it’s what makes this experiment in citizen democracy successful unlike no place else in the world.
Believe me, if you read the press during the Revolutionary War, you’d see news stories where the king was called a whoremongerer and people were called out as drunks and louts. There’s nothing new here and after 238 years, we’ve survived!
Good day,
Andrew
Spoken like a non american.Yeah and every country on the planet is older then you and are doing better then you.
That said there is a vast difference between stating a fact and saying in a way to make people think like you.
But I don’t blame you for being young and ignorant nation thinking they have all the answers. You were born of revalution and fire and violence. Being proud and loud is all you know.
Sadly that often including being wrong.
Your following the letters of your presious constitution, not the spirit it was written.
If you had any idea how you (Americans) sound to the rest of the world you’d understand how much of a blessing not being a Yankee is.Spoken like a non american.
“Truth” is only what you choose to agree with.Screw bias, I want truth.
You have no idea assuming your Christian of some type how hallow that rings“Truth” is only what you choose to agree with.
I think we agree there is such a thing as objective truth. I think we also agree that, as human beings, we can never fully capture it. I disagree that everyone has an agenda which they promote in their news coverage. We can, to greater or lesser degrees, attempt to capture objective truth. The best news outlets make an effort to come as close as possible. They will refine, and refine again, their news reporting to be as objective as possible.Everyone has an agenda & is pushing it. There is no such thing as objective truth in the media or even the history books.
At least we have an Independence Day when we broke out fealty to England; can’t say the same for Canada. If you had any idea how you (Americans) sound to the rest of the world you’d understand how much of a blessing not being a Yankee is.
Enjoy your 4th of July with German hotdogs and Chinese fireworks with NSA watching it all![]()
Yeah, we just asked politely and they gave it to us. We didn’t have to take it.At least we have an Independence Day when we broke out fealty to England; can’t say the same for Canada.
I imagine there will be responses all over the place, but I’m going to try nonetheless.
I quit paying close attention to the news several years ago. It was too depressing, people yelled all the time, and it all seemed super infected with bias. Maybe that is still the case. But I feel like I don’t know much about what is going on, and I would like to see if - maybe there is the slightest chance of this - I can find some reliable, honest news sources to follow. I generally know where to find that for local coverage, which is helpful. I’m looking for US and international - print, online, TV, whatever you find and trust. I’m looking for news, too, not opinion and editorializing.
So is there such coverage out there, or am I chasing a pipe dream?![]()
