What are your best prayer book recommendations? There are so many out there, but what are your top 3 picks and what prayers have been very helpful and powerful to you?

The Liturgy of the Hours, in whatever format suits you - something as simple and cut down as is provided in the Magnificat (a booklet published monthly +); Shorter Christian Prayer, the one volume set, or the 4 volume set (don’t try to start with that one).

In praying the LOTH, you are engaging in the other official liturgy of the Church; you pray the psalms and canticles, and parts of the NT.

Blessed be God is definitely a great prayer book especially if you attend an E.F. I searched for it a few years ago, at the time it was hard to find and I bought a couple of used copies off eBay before purchasing a new edition.

I would also suggest a book called “The people’s Prayer Book” you can google it, Jet.com has it for about 12.00 and at over 1,000 pages it’s very comprehensive.

The other is the “Catholic pocket prayer book” it’s very portable. At times I’ve carried it in my pants pocket and don’t even notice it.

+1

The Divine Office, in whatever format and language duly approved by the Church, is THE Prayer Book.

My favorite prayer books are Blessed Be God, The Blessed Sacrament Prayerbook, and the Prisoner of Love. The last two are by Fr. Lasance. I use my 1962 daily missal as my prayerbook but I didn’t list it since it is mostly for Mass. The Memorare and the Angelus are two of my favorite prayers.

Blessed Be God and The Blessed Sacrament Prayerbook, both are fantastic. You won’t be sorry getting either one. 👍

Below are my “must-haves” for prayer:

The Raccolta
St. Andrew’s Daily Missal
Baronius Press Divine Office in 3 volumes
Liturgy of the Hours in 4 volumes
Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary
The Roman Martyrology
Douay-Rheims Haydock Bible
Imitation of Christ
Monastic Diurnale
Picture Book of Saints
Butler’s Lives of the Saints
City of God in 4 volumes by St. Mary of Agreda
