I absolutely love Lonestar’s Front Porch Looking In…great lyrics…great beat…just an all around happy family song. It’s nice to hear songs that are for families and not against them…many songs depict sexualized lyrics – these songs are refreshing. Thanks for posting them CH!

Montgomery Gentry has a couple other songs I forgot to mention:

“My Town”–sounds kind of rough in parts…
"where I was born, where I was raised

And I love “Something to be Proud of”–where he remembers how his father would talk about his and his brother’s war service and how his brother was shot down and then when the son grows up and ends up marrying young, having a family and working for minimum wage, he says…

Song For Mama: Boyz2Men
When my son was in the army, he called me and told me to go buy that song and close my eyes and pretend that it was him singing to me. To this day I get teary eyed thinking about it.

“My Father” – Judy Collins (a woman realizes her father’s dreams for his children)
“Circle Game” – Joni Mitchell (watching a little boy grow up)

Someone already mentioned “I Loved Her First” by Heartland, but there are a couple of new daddy/daughter songs out there (at opposite ends of the spectrum, no less!)

The first one is “Stealing Cinderella” by Brad Paisley. He’s a young man going to pick up his girlfriend and her father leaves the room to go get her and the young man starts looking at the family pictures of his girlfriend growing up. And he says that to her, he might be Prince Charming, but to her father he’s just “some fella” who’s “stealing Cinderella”.

The other is by Rodney Atkins and he says to his daughter’s boyfriend (not sure the words are exact):

Come on in, boy, sit on down, tell me about yourself,
So you like my daughter, do ya now? We think she’s something else,
*She’s her daddy’s girl, her momma’s world, *
She deserves respect, that’s what she’ll get
Now ain’t it, son?
Now run along and have some fun, I’ll see you when you get back,

Can you just picture the boyfriend’s face? :eek:
