Total surrender to God’s Will. Praying for something isn’t like a riddle, with a right answer and a prize. Pray with love, sincerity, and trust in God. If it’s meant to be, it will be. If not, He knows what’s best. He loves you, so if He says “no” it’s not to be cruel.
Pray with confidence, “God, I know you are going to take care of just what I need and either give me X or do something different that is even better for me. I place my confidence in you and I trust in you. And I thank you ahead of time.”
Then just go about your business, unless this is a novena or something where you say the prayer every day.
