From a Catholic (or even an artistic one) point of view, which film is the best (I’m thinking of buying one for Christmas

The Greatest Story ever Told

–or–

Jesus of Nazereth

Jesus of Nazareth, the Jesus in Greatest Story Ever Told looks like a zombie, and the instrusiveness of all those celebrity cameos is annoying.

IMHO Jesus of Nazareth is the best film ever on the life of Jesus, six hours not withstanding. Plus the film has an outstanding cast.

Scenes from the film for discussion were used at several Jesuit retreats that I attended.

Jesus of Nazareth. 👍

I recall the crucifiction scene in TGSET and the actor playing Jesus looked more like he was having a manicure then being executed  .

Jesus of Nazareth by a long shot. The ending where Jesus is talking to Peter moves me to tears everytime I see it.

I actually prefer the silent film version of King Of Kings over both…but I agree… GSET has some BAD acting in it and too many celebrity cameos.

Jesus of Nazareth is the best. The scene where Mary recieves Jesus from the cross always brings me to tears.

I never saw Jesus of Nazerath but greatest story ever told had the worst Jesus ever. That’s not what my Jesus is like.

Miracle Maker is by far the best Jesus in film.

JON, the scene in the couryard where Jesus is being questioned and scourged, and at Peter’s third denial, Jesus looks straight into his eyes, the actor’s face is so expressive.
