I hear about the Saints who could bi-locate. I read a little bit and started wondering if the miracle of bi-location is at the will of the person who is bi-locating at the time or at the will of God. Also, when the Saints are bi-locating, are they aware of the events in two places or aware that they are in two places at once? What are your thoughts?

I remember a story about St Jacinta of Fatima fame. She helped a lost traveller one day but it turned out that she had never been to the place where it had happened and had no knowledge of it at all. So that instance of bilocation was an example of how someone could appear to be in two places at once when actually they weren’t.

St Pio also bilocated many times and I’m not sure that he always knew of this, but often he was aware of it. Many wonderful stories surrounding Padre Pio, a great saint.

I’d guess, guess mind you, that sometimes the person is very aware and at other times it may be an angel in their stead, purely a guess. A fascinating subject.

St. Martin de Porres was also well-known for bi-location, but I have never heard whether or not he was aware of it with possible exception of one time he bi-located to be with his mother. That was during late night prayer.

Bi-location is a special grace from God. We cannot will it for ourselves.

One of my favourites .

I remember a time when beatifications and canonizations were not as numerous as they are now .

We were encouraged to pray for the beatifications and canonizations , and we got to know the saints .

The two which stand out in my mind were the canonization of St Martin de Porres and the beatification of St Maximillian Kolbe .

I recall Pope John XXIII lamenting that so many statues of St Martin de Porres showed him as white .

There is still a statue of him in the kitchen .

This book is well worth reading .

St. Martin de Porres led an absolutely amazing and inspirational life.

I think many in the US are not aware of just how powerful a saint he is. Unfortunately, his story tends to get lost in our convoluted racial politics.

Does he have a strong devotion in the UK?

Thank you for the book recommendation. I will add it to my booklist.

I wouldn’t say the devotion is strong here . There are schools named after him and his statue is seen in quite a few churches . There is a monthly St Martin magazine which is popular .

I remember at Christmas my mother used to get me a square St Martin candle .(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

There was one instance in his life where he bilocated to heal people after an earthquake (since he was a medic/barber) while at the same time helping in his Dominican brothers.

By far my favorite saint, he shares his feast day with my birthday, and he’s also my Confirmation name 😛

Wonderful book, one of my many books on him. Also there are great movies.

Absolutely an extremely powerful Saint. He had the gifts of bilocation, levitation during prayer, healing, and speaking with animals. I feel very connected with him daily, I got a 2 foot tall statue of him (as well as many others) 😃
