I agree with DLC and Jimmy’s points. In Jimmy’s example, geology is stated in the Bible. One thing that bother’s me about some interptratations is that once we prove its scientificly possible, than God must be taken out of the equation. God uses the laws of geophysics to do His will with His massagers as Jimmy points out. I agree with DLC’s points as well, but archeaology is related to history moreso than science. I think when the question of science or the Bible comes up, that person is often upset with the description in the Book of Geninsis and the creation of the universe. What does anyone think about intelligent design verses evolution? I think evolution is an element of intelligent design, but it is not random in any way, since God has a hand in everything. Any thoughts?

Only about 3,000 stars can be seen with the naked eye but the Bible suggests there are as many stars as grains of sand. Even today, scientists admit that they do not know how many stars there are. Here are two examples.

Before consideration however, please recognize the following factor: God’s Word is Wisdom, therefore Vast. In one statement, God can be telling us thousands of things. Therefore, although the Big Bang Theory can be aligned with the first day of Creation, the Word is describing more than just the Big Bang Theory.

Creation of the Earth
Earth time and cosmological time are best explained by considering two twins, one of whom traveled into space at near the speed of light for a few minutes while his twin remained on earth. After returning to earth a few minutes later the space age twin would find several decades had elapsed on earth and his twin brother would be an old man. What took a short time when the universe expanded faster than the speed of light at the Big Bang can take millions of years measured by earth time. The Bible bears an uncanny similarity to creation as understood by science when it is compared with the fossil record where one day in God’s time as recorded in the Bible equates to the major geological era.
Day 1 of Creation
“In the beginning about 4.6 billion years ago God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. DAY 2 (Ediacaran Era, began about 600 million years ago.)

DAY 4 (Paleozoic Era From the Greek meaning “Old Animals.” It includes the Cambrian, Ordovician, Silurian, Devonian, Mississippian, Pennsylvanian, and Permian periods and is characterized by the appearance of marine invertebrates, primitive fishes, land plants, and reptiles that ended about 251 million years ago. Most species became extinct but the tree and plant life remained.)
The Paleozoic is bracketed by two of the most important events in the history of animal life. At its beginning, multi-celled animals underwent a dramatic explosion in diversity, and almost all living animal phyla appeared within a few millions of years.

The Bible is true and trustworthy but our understanding of it is not so reliable unfortunately. Regarding the six days of creation the Hebrew word for day is ‘yome’ and it means a period of time that can be anything from part of a day to an ‘age’, ‘era,’ ‘in the process of time’ etc.
Regarding the creation of mankind verse 27 of Genesis 1 tells us that God created both male and female.
“So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.”
The account a little later is describing the joining together of two people in marriage.

The second is that since Holy Scripture can be explained in a multiplicity of senses, one should adhere to a particular explanation, only in such measure as to be ready to abandon it, if it be proved with certainty to be false; lest Holy Scripture be exposed to the ridicule of unbelievers, and obstacles be placed to their believing.
The key words are “with certainty.”

Look at the farthest Hubble Deep Space image. In it, you can see more, faint galaxies. We don’t know how big the universe is. The quantum fluctuations are unexplained. How can a electron orbit a nucleus for thousands of years without slowing down? What powers it?
We also don’t understand redshift. There are objects in space moving at superluminal - faster than light - velocities.
