Bible Index Tabs

Does anybody here have any experience using bible index tabs?
Are they easy to install?
Are they helpful?
Are they a bad decision for a lifelong Bible?

Although I’ve never used them, I do know that they are helpful for someone who doesn’t already have the whole canon order memorized. Eventually you will no longer need them. By that time, you will have a new Bible anyway!
 
I thought the tabs were not so much for finding the books, but just to save time opening to a specific one?

At least one version has permanent marginal markers for this purpose.

I like the tabs and have them on all my bibles. I find that they save wear and tear on the pages. I don’t shuffle the pages to find the book I am looking for.

I have a personal study Bible I use in my morning and sometimes evening devotions…I keep it clean…unmarked…keep the leather well oiled…any notes and insights I have I use my “journal”…it’s a nice refillable leather journal I keep with my nice black leather Oxford Study Bible Expanded Edition…have had it for almost years…and it still is in great shape…I have it under my side table on a footstool…I read it each morning.

I have another study Bible that I am not as careful with…it has index tabs…about half of them are now missing…the Bible is well used…well marked…with lots of notes…it’s like Bible number 7 as they don’t last too much longer than a couple to three years for rigorous study and noted…I take it to Bible study and First Day school when I attend educational classes…

To another poster’s point…once you memorize the placement of the various books…you will be able to find passages quite quickly…and Bible tabs are no longer needed…AND they tend to weaken the pages…at least on the sides and give it a tattered look.

Memorizing where the books are and their order and length will assist you much more than Bible tabs…either factory or self inserted.
 
I have these on two bibles and like them a lot. They make it much easier to jump to the spot that you’re looking for and they were fairly simple to install. Just make sure you install them on one page. I put two pages together once with a single tab.
