Bible pages

I’m about to embark on my New Year’s resolution of reading the entire Bible, but I’m running into an inconvenience with the physical construction of the bible editions I have.

In all of the them, the paper is so thin that the text from the reverse page shows through to the page I’m reading–it’s very distracting. Can anyone recommend a Catholic bible (NAB, RSV, Jerusalem–any of them) that is built of sufficiently thick paper where this is not a problem? I prefer a single volume edition, rather than a series of separate books.

Hello,One of the Bibles I use is the NAB Study Edition,Catholic Bible Press #9053NBG.Its also inexpensive.Cost is about $30.Peace

My Ignatius Press RSV-CE seems to have fairly thin pages, but I have never been distracted by words showing through…I’m at work so I can’t check it right now to see if they do show through…?

My regular NAB is definitely thick enough for no show through and it was only about $10 at my Church’s gift shop.

Hi: I began reading the bible last year and am very close to compleation. I recomend you begin in the new Testament.

If you are like me than you probably like to read a bible which is written in an easy to understand current language. I have used the NASB but my regular bible is the good news translation for Catholics. It is very easy to read and understand, plus it contains all the books including the deuterocanonicals. The student version is especially helpful and includes many commentaries.

Thanks for the replies. I’m trying to find the NAB edition you recommend. Is the number you listed the ISBN number? Can you please send me a link to an Amazon page or somewhere else that I can see or buy that exact edition? My searches turn up numerous bibles, but not the “Catholic Press” edition.

Also, I welcome any other recommendations for a Catholic bible that has thick paper. Handy-size editions preferred, but I will settle for a larger edition if necessary. Harcover is OK too.

It was the Thigpen Daily Catholic Bible that gave me the idea to start a daily reading project as a new year resolution, but when I examined the book in my local Catholic bookstore, it also had the see-through paper. (amazon.com/My-Daily-Catholic-Bible-20-Minute/dp/1592760678)

I’m sorry. I went to the publishers web-site and could’nt find my Bible.You can try www.allbibles.com.They have a fireside NAB study Bible for about the same price. For an extra $10 they will engrave your name on it.Peace.
