Jesus said, “no one enters onto the father except through me”. Now there is a verse that sounds anything but Catholic. How about in Romans, “it is your faith that saves you”. There is another verse that certainly does not rest with Catholic doctrine.
Romans is Catholic. That’s why Catholics are often called Roman Catholic.

Revelation 11:19 and Revelation 12:1 also sound Catholic, the first time I read that verse, I know it was speaking about Mary.

BIBLE PASSAGES THAT JUST SOUND TOO CATHOLIC???

The Bible is a Catholic library of New Testament books coupled with the Hebrew roots from which we came. ALL Bible passages sound Catholic because Catholics wrote and acknowledged and maintained Sacred Scripture throughout the centuries. I once asked a protestant (this is absolutely true) where his bible came from and he answered, “Barnes and Noble”. Church history at its finest…God Bless…teachccd:)

The word BIBLE is not found in the BIBLE. So BIBLE sounds too Catholic…😉 teachccd:)

However, there is nothing uniquely Catholic about 1 Corinthians 11:17-33. This passage is often read or quoted during Protestant communion services, metaphorically of course as to the body and the blood.

.
Oh yes there is. Verse 27 says," Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily will have to answer for the body and blood of the Lord." Verse 28 says"A person should examine himself, and so eat the bread and drink the cup. 29 “For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body, eats and drinks judgement on himself.”

If the Eucharist is merely symbolic then are we judged by desecrating a symbol? If I tear a picture of our President, people might get upset, if I kill him I’m brought to judgment. Huge difference. There is NOTHING metaphoric about these passages. Very, Very Catholic…Peace…teachccd 🙂

This is an abject lie.

This is an abject lie.
unless you state which part of his statement is a lie, then we can’t know what you are referring to.

if you mean the fact that it was under the catholic church’s leadership that the bible was put together, then no that isn’t a lie.

the bible is made up of several different books.the cannon was disputed for awhile and the catholic church decided on the basic list of books that is found in protestant bibles now.

if you mean that the poster is lying about something else then i apologize

Regretfully speaking, your entire statement is a lie. The RC wasn’t even in existence in the 4th century when the canons were decided upon. The bible is not a Catholic book as well for the word Catholic isn’t even contained within it. To say that the RC made the bible is like saying that the word of God is owned by the RC. This is ridiculous.

St. Polycarp
Martyr (A.D. 69-155).

St. Irenaeus (Adv. Haer., III,3) which brings out in fullest relief St. Polycarp’s position as a link with the past. It was possible to learn by word of mouth what the Apostles taught from those who had been their hearers. In order then to know what the Apostles taught, we must have recourse to the “successions” of bishops throughout the world. But as time and space would fail if we tried to enumerate them all one by one, let the Roman Church speak for the rest. Their agreement with her is a manifest fact by reason of the position which she holds among them ("for with this Church on account of its potior principalitas the whole Church, that is, the faithful from every quarter). Then follows the list of the Roman bishops down to Eleutherius, the twelfth from the Apostles, the ninth from Clement, “who had both seen and conversed with the blessed Apostles”. From the Roman Church, representing all the churches. St. John, the Apostolic Age had been prolonged till “the time of Trajan”. Of Polycarp he says, “he was not only taught by the Apostles, and lived in familiar intercourse with many that had seen Christ, but also received his appointment in Asia from the Apostles as Bishop in the Church of Smyrna”.

It seems to me that when a RC is backed into a corner, their emergency defense is always that no matter what, they are successors to Peter. Well, I am a successor to Al Capone but I am nothing like he was nor do I condone the way in which he lived. Same goes for the RC. Peter was a poor fisherman. The pope rides upon a chariot carried by Vatican guards. Where is the corrilation?

😃 Here we go again. The word bible is not in the bible. Fact or lie?? The word Trinity is not in the Bible. Fact or lie?? The word incarnation is not in the Bible. Fact or lie?? The author of the book of Matthew is not in the inspired Scripture, Fact or lie?? Anyone who would state that the Catholic Church did not exist prior to the fourth century is ignorant. I feel justified in calling you ignorant since you felt the need to call me a liar. But anyhoot,😉 have you ever read any of the Early Church Father’s writings?? St. Augustine was at the Council of Hippo where the canonicity if the New Testament was decided. Have you read any of his writings concerning the sacraments and the Mass?? Is he Protestant?? Have you read Justin Martyr’s letter entitled First Apology where he describes in the year 150A.D. the Catholic Mass as we still celebrate it today??

Regretfully speaking, your entire statement is one of ignorance. This does not mean that you are stupid just ignorant of Church history. You are fed your fundamentalist propaganda and don’t think for yourself. You probably believe all of the other lies that you are told about Catholicism and evangelize them as “truths”. I will keep you in my prayers for you are VERY misled. God Bless you and may you someday find the truth…teachccd:)

You find some guy to start a Church. Jesus Christ founded ours. Where’s your corrilation??🤷 And what corner are you backing us into?? We have 2000 years behind us unlike most Protestants who go back to Jesus Christ as our founder not Pastor Billy Bob.

History is such a bother some thing to someone who makes his own dogmas

ST. JOHN CHRYSOSTOM
HOMILIES ON TITUS.
HOMILY I: TITUS i. 1-4.

“Paul, a servant of God, and an Apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness; In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began; But hath in due times manifested His word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God
our Saviour; To Titus, mine own son after the common faith; Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.”

TITUS was an approved one of the companions of Paul; otherwise, he would not have committed to him the charge of that whole island, nor would he have commanded him to supply what was deficient, as he says, “That thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting.” (Ver. 5.) He would not have given him jurisdiction over so many Bishops, if he had not placed great confidence in him. They say that he also was a young man, because he calls him his son, though this does not prove it. I think that there is mention made of him in the Acts.(1) Perhaps he was a Corinthian, unless there was some other of the same name. And he summons Zenas, and orders Apollos to be sent to him, never Titus. (Tit. iii. 13.) For he also attests their superior virtue and courage in the presence of the Emperor.

the word catholic merely means universal. many things aren’t mentioned by name in the bible but they are implied, such as the trinity.

can you tell me which individuals and under what authority decided which books were to be in the bible.

by the way, calling someone a liar is not very polite.

That’s o.k. I called him ignorant and I stand by that. He doesn’t know Church history and proclaims ignorance. Sticks and stones…You know the rest.😃

If the moderator is on board please know that I am not trying to show disrespect. I truly mean that he needs to stop ignoring the truth about our faith…teachccd:)

So who did put the canon of the New Testament together? Please advise this abject liar. I really want to learn:thumbsup: …teachccd:)

The Catholic Church existed before Protestantism came. I believe St. Ignatius of Antioch in 107 AD first use the word Catholic in his Letters to the Symerean.

It said something like this, “See that you all follow the bishop, even as Jesus Christ does the Father, and the presbytery as you would the apostles; and reverence the deacons, as being the institution of God. Let no man do anything connected with the Church without the bishop. Let that be deemed a proper Eucharist, which is [administered] either by the bishop, or by one to whom he has entrusted it. Wherever the bishop shall appear, there let the multitude [of the people] also be; even as, wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church. It is not lawful without the bishop either to baptize or to celebrate a love-feast; but whatsoever he shall approve of, that is also pleasing to God, so that everything that is done may be secure and valid.”

That’s way before the 4th Century, my friend.
