Bible Programs?

Hello, I am not sure if I have posted this in the right section.

I was at a St Vincent de Paul store this week and picked up a small pocket sized Gideon New Testament Bible. Now I understand these are based on the King James incomplete Bible, however what interested me the most was the story in the front of the Bible of the Gideon Society and their program of giving away Bibles.
This had me thinking, does the Catholic Church or any other associated groups/missions do this?

I feel this would be something worthwhile donating money to if such a Catholic Church program existed.
It seems a very noble gesture to be spreading God’s word by giving away Bibles for people to read.

I don’t know if there is any specific organization that does but there are so many Catholic charities, groups and organizations in the Catholic church that give to the poor and work to help others that there probably is someone that does in their area but I have never heard or seen any one group just giving out Bibles.
