Does the fact the the New Testament having so many different Authors, with very little disagreement between them, Written at different times, and possibly never meeting to ‘share’ ideas offer enough evidence for the validity of the bible…

Does the fact every other religion save Judiasm has but ONE author play as further proof of scripture?

For me, it is a huge piece of evidence that is very hard to counter… but maybe not for others…

The NT really doesn’t have very many different authors. Some of Paul’s letters were circulated when the synopics were written and reflect Pauline theology. The author of “John’s” gospel reflects the theology being developed in the Johannine community 90CE to 120CE. The “pastoral letters” were influenced by the Pauline community and the “proto-catholic” hierarchy system was in it’s early stages of development which the “pastoral letters” reflect. The Revelation and “John’s” letters too were influenced by the Johannine community as they share some very common terms in the Johannine literature.

As the emerging “proto-orthodox/catholic” groups consolidated and became the most vocal as the “true” expression of Christianity, the literature chosen to reflect their emerging theology also was chosen out of the large amount of “Christian” writings available. Various gospels and letters were used in differing communities…each writing reflecting the “teachings” they received from the respective apostle they claimed taught them and established their particular group.

So, all in all, the “multiple writers” weren’t that “multiple”.

As mentioned above, Paul was a common author who developed the ideas and meaning of the death and resurrection before the gospels were written. Also, since we don’t really know when the gospels were written, who really wrote them, or what common sources may have been available to the authors, I can’t imagine this being a “huge” piece of evidence, if it is evidence at all. Many of the passages between gospels are so similar that it is highly unlikely that these passages were all written by different authors as opposed to being drawn by the authors from a common source.

Personally, I don’t know of any religion that has only one author.

You might be able to make a case for Islam and maybe Mormonism, but it would be exceedingly weak, since I think both of these religions accept scriptures beyond the ones that they are “known for.”

And most of the eastern religions (especially the two main ones) have more authors than you can list.

Can you provide me some examples of mainstream religions that have only one author, please?

I can be mistaken about there not being many multi author religions… However…

My understanding…

Islam is basically the sayings of one person…

Same with Buddhism, Confucianism…

However… i guess it could be said that since there are multiple people that comment on these teachings as official writings that they also have multiple writings

I am not above reproach
