How many re writings of the Bible have their been since the original? I once heard someone say there had been over 150,000! Is this true?

Bible re-writings? none.

Bible translations, many. From oral Traditions to being written down. Then copied by many ancient scribes. Then from these original scriptures, in Hebrew, Greek, Aramaic, and other languages, to Latin. Some translations are of the Latin Vulgate to other languages. Other translations try to get closer to the source. Other translations are updates, using more modern linguistics. And then the translations to many local vernaculars - I’ve heard the complete Bible is now available in over 400 languages, with many more languages currently being undertaken.

Lots of translations, but I don’t think anywhere near 150000. But being the all time best seller, could be way off base :o

There are tens of thousands of variant readings in 5,000 Greek NT manuscripts - but that is a very different matter from saying the whole Bible has been re-written that often 🙂

As for the Bible itself - the texts in both Testaments have gone through a long & complex history: this is why there are some striking differences between the Septuagint, & the Massoretic text in Hebrew.
