Bible study is THE place to meet single Catholics of the opposite sex

Seriously, each Bible study is like a singles event for Catholics. If you’re looking for someone Catholic to date, Bible study would probably be the best/first place to look! I don’t think there is a single time I’ve went without meeting someone new. Sometimes they even have group dinner afterwards where you can socialize even more. And best of all, you will always learn something new about our faith, too!

It would be nice to meet new people, but I go to Bible Study to share our faith.

Really? When I was in Bible study every single one of us was a woman, the majority were married, and myself and two others were the only ones less than 60 years old. I still loved it, but would have never in a million years recommended it as a place to meet single Caatholics of the opposite sex.

I take it you had good luck though.

This is interesting. I guess the reason why I had better luck is probably because the Bible study was hosted by a young adults group. The ratio of men and women was actually quite even. Not sure about the married/single ratio, though.

I went to one once and I was the only male there and I was also the only person under 60 there. Didn’t go back.

What are your bible studies called? Because the ones we have here in the midwest are CHRP which seems like it is for marrieds and seniors, and they are segregated by sexes. Now they have these CEW with Catholism, too, still divided by sexes, but not as time intensive as CRHP. Maybe you are in a college town. I usually have to look for something specific to that with the young adult groups in town.

They’re just regular Bible studies, I believe, though they’re hosted by a young adults group. The Bible study that I went to in college was apparently full of college students. Granted it wasn’t a Catholic Bible study, it did have people from both sexes.

Just be careful…I met (and fell in love with) a very wonderful Protestant man while attending a Catholic bible study.

Only God knows…but I am grateful that He brought my boyfriend and I together…

Why did you write this? I don’t want to get attached to a non Catholic, if I do not know, who, specifically is Catholic or not. Is it hosted or formed by Catholics and open to all Christians? There are so many Christian faiths out there who are still bashing Catholics and I have to study the bible with people who may undermining my faith? This utility was available to them on behalf of the organizers in my religion, that is not nice or fair.

I am not saying that all non Catholics do this, but if given the opportunity, it could arise. Some non Catholics do not pester you, but have their own ideals pent up until an opportunity comes by and they let you have it. I am very defensive, and a superb apologetic, but the last thing I would anticipate having to do at a bible study is defend myself. It is almost like the comfort/guilty pleasure you attain going to ceramics classes or book clubs, that is why you physically show up, right?

In my part of town, you need people to oversee the groups, or it just fizzles. I am already somewhat involved with a non Catholic. So why bother going to something like this, if not, for your own spiritual benefit?

Sorry, this whole post has contradictory tones about finding someone that is specifically Catholic. How are we meeting so many noncaths with all the groups and events we provide? I think I will stick to the ladies groups since my focus at a bible study s/b the bible, thanks for your take and experience on this anyway. I don’t mean any harm.
