Is anyone aware of any good Bible study materials on St. Paul? This would be for a parish adult education program in observation of the upcoming Year of St. Paul. I have been asked to help organize.

It could be one “canned” program, or we could pick and choose from a variety of media. Print, audio, video, or any combination. Paul’s life, his conversion, his writings, applications to the life of our parish, especially the building of church community — all are fair game.

I’m thinking probably monthly to weekly hour-long sessions for up to a year, depending on the amount of material available and people’s interest.

Adult education has been sorely lacking in our parish for many years, so we’d have to keep it at a not-too-difficult-to-understand level.

Thanks for any suggestions you may have.

And if you’re looking for Scripture study…I haven’t read these, but I have much respect for Scott Hahn…he has several Bible Studies on Paul’s epistles.

Check out Amazon for the Ignatius Bible Study books on the epistles…you can get most of these pretty cheap.

One good Bible Study that covers Acts and covers some of Paul’s Epistles is by Jeff Cavins. It is part of the “Great Adventures” series. It is titled “Adventures in Acts”.

The Adventure Bible Studies that he has done are:
  1. The Bible Time Line (24 weeks)
  2. Matthew (24 weeks)
  3. Acts (20 weeks)
  4. Revelation (10 weeks)
Our Parish has been through the Time Line and Acts and will be starting Revelation in a couple of weeks.
I would recommend them.

Jeff is doing a live study of Exodus at the Catholic Church in Hastings Minnesota this Fall,. The Church is named for Mother Seton. But I don’t know the exact name. I think it has either just started or will start soon.
