I recently returned home to the Catholic Church and would like some help in choosing which Bible to use. I have read the CA tract but they seem to push the RSV-CE. I would like to use a strictly Catholic translation, IE done by Catholics. I don’t want this thread to turn into another RSV/DR thread. I have limited my choices to two modern Catholic Bibles, the New Jerusalem Bible or the NAB. Which one of these should I pick, which one is the most “orthodox”. BTW I have both the DR and the RSV-CE 2cnd edition, the DR is just too difficult and the RSV is basically a Protestant translation, its ok but I would like to use a Catholic Bible done by Catholics

I am a convert to the church of 4 years. I am very comfortable with the New Jerusalem Bible. The New American doesn’t flow smoothly at times. :juggle:
I have one (NAB) for reference, but don’t use it much.

Wow, are you ever in luck! It just so happens we have another thread going, entitled “NAB or NJB?” (or maybe it’s “NJB vs NAB”). Go to it! And then let us know what you think, OK?

You could add the Christian Community Bible to the list. The CCB was translated by the Claretians. All new editions of the CCB have inclusive language (which the NJB is also plagued by). If you can get your hands on a old edition one, it’d be very good. The CCB also includes alot of commentary.
