Thanks everyone.
First off, we are a Cathedral parish. Money is not an issue in this matter, but our Rector demands good Liturgy (thanks be to God). We don’t let the Liturgy Committee or Pastoral Council handle such things because that is not in their authority (they are only canonical advisory committees).
What we have been doing to this point in time is simply photocopying them and putting them in the book of the Gospels we had. We have attempted contacting the CCCB and they have never gotten back to us about anything (unfortunately they are notorious for not really doing anything). So it’s a bit tough, we don’t know if one is coming out, and if it is, when, but we need one now because it is proper to the Cathedral Parish to have a book of the Gospels. Needless to say this has been quite the frustration.
Thanks, though, for letting me know other countries that use the Jerusalem translation. That translation is approved in Canada and so I may be able to hunt down and order a book of the Gospels from a Church supply store or something in those countries. I would prefer RSV, but unfortunately it isn’t approved for use in Canada, though I would think that if the Vatican uses it for its translations, it would always be ok…
