Bible Vigil?

I was reading a 1965 transitional missal and it had something included called a Bible Vigil. From what I read somewhere, the bible vigil was a way of replacing devotions. Is this true? Also, do parishes still do Bible vigils?
 
I have never heard of a bible vigil. Since you read this in a transitional missal maybe it was something introduced for a while and then dropped. Google ’ Catholic bible vigil’ and see if anything comes up.

I know that in our Cursillo community we have Bible Vigils at funeral homes for deceased members of the Cursillo or their families. They consist of selected songs, Scripture readings, prayers and a short “homily” given by a Priest or Deacon (not a Eulogy). This is done at the end of the calling hours and everyone is invited to participate. I am not sure if this is the type of thing referred to in the missal, nor am I sure if it is common in all Cursillo communities, but it is definitely termed a Bible Vigil.

I might add that it does not necessarily replace other devotions, such as the Rosary, but that is up to the family.
 
Bible Vigils was a form of devotion popular in the days just before Vatican II as a quasi-liturgical service in the vernacular.

It was an interim step.

The function they were supposed to serve is now properly fulfilled by active participation in the actual liturgical prayers of the Mass and Divine Office, whether in Latin or the vernacular.

That sounds like the regular Funeral Vigil to me.
