Now I have several bible versions including a protestant one, but I’m more interested in what was before the latin vulgate. If i’m right, the vulgate was originally for the general public to understand, and I’m sure the early church fathers used something else, because they weren’t the general public.
What exactly is this called? I have the clementine vulgate of 1598 and jerome’s vulgate, what is a superior version to this? A greek version?
IS there a latin version which is not the vulgate?
