Could someone recommend me a Catholic Bible please.

Recommended to me by a Missionary of Charity as the best translation!

or if you want to use what we read in Mass, you can pick up the New American Bible which is good too

The NAB had to be modified before it was allowed to be used in the liturgy. I do not like its modernist tone or the notes.

The RSV-2CE is a fine bible.

I prefer the Confraternity Bible, produced from 1941-1969. Little known, but can be obtained very economically on eBay and in thrift stores.

Catholic bible are so cheap and so often unread, that a veritable collection may be amassed for less than $100.

I like the RSCE, and I love the Confraternity Edition (the forerunner of the NAB), and I am now using the Knox Bible that I received for Christmas, and I am enjoying it. I can’t really tell which would be the best translation for you, except to say that the best translation is the one that you will actually read!

I really like my NAB. When that wears out I’ll most likely get the NAB-RE.

I personally prefer the RSV-CE (1st edition). Partly because I like the informal pronouns (thee, thou, thy)
