Section 997 of the CCC states:
“In death, the separation of the soul from the body, the human body decays and the soul goes to meet God, while awaiting its reunion with its glorified body.”
Can someone supply me with one or two passages from Sacred Scripture that ground this view?
I ask because a friend of mine is convinced that the notion of the human soul leaving the body at death is a purely Greek philosophical notion adopted by the early Church.
Thank you!
