Do people follow you around affirming you all day in case you might sin? Why are they so blessed?
That’s not a convincing argument. And Jesus said nothing about it at all.
The marriage laws are tough too so it isn’t exactly a walk in the park either. But does anyone else feel that way? That it is (much more) convenient to be catholic If you are heterosexual?
Only a small percentage are homosexual. My sister told me that many Catholics leave the Church because of their homosexual tendencies.
Unfortunately, this is the trend in the Church these days. Take something known as truth for 20 centuries, “reassess” it, then come out with a word salad statement that on one hand seems to uphold tradition, but on the other can be taken to mean the teaching can and will change. So while it isn’t all doom and gloom yet, there are reasons to be concerned about this, in my opinion.
I know quite a few older gay men who are in long-term relationships. I’m almost 60 myself and have been with my partner for more than 20 years. So, not all gay men are living lonely, companion-less lives with no one to provide love and comfort. And it’s not as if all older straight men have an easy time attracting a partner in life. Our culture in general is very youth-oriented.I knew a gay man who was “in the closet”, and he told me he had been kicked out of two Protestant churches for being “gay”. He went on to tell me that as they age, they are less able to attract a partner because the lifestyle is very youth-oriented. Then he asked me if I thought anyone would actually choose that for themselves. It is evidently a sad way to live. It’s been a while back and now everyone knows. But of all the churches, I think the Catholic Church is among the most accepting.
Of course now people are choosing it - and their gender, too!
As I learned it, marriage has a two-fold purpose, to produce children and to provide love and comfort for one another. So they are missing out on two blessings.
