I thought I saw a list of verses telling us we should hold councils but I can’t seem to locate them anymore. My efforts aren’t producing desirable results.

Does anyone know what I’m talking about?

I’m somewhat confused, because the title of your post and your actual post don’t seem to relate to each other.

The “first council” is described in Acts 15. This was the “Council of Jerusalem.” It is not normally numbered among the Ecumenical Councils (the first being Nicea in 325), but it is the model (Type) for all Ecumenical Councils, and the decisions of that council were held to possess the authority of the Holy Spirit (Acts 15:28).

Perhaps I’m not using the correct wording in my title.

But basically I recall reading something to the effect “you should hold councils”.

It’s similar verses I’m looking for.

Thanks

My Strong’s Concordance shows only two uses of the word “councils” (plural) in the entire Bible (OT and NT). Neither is helpful to you. Of course, Strong’s is KJV. Maybe the word is translated differently than in the version you are recalling.

There are concordances on-line for many different Bible translations. If you could remember which translation you were reading then you might find the passage in the appropriate concordance.
